Chapter 1: The Car Crash
When I woke up all I saw were lights moving above me.
"Emily, Emily", I hear shouting in the distance.
I couldn't move. Nothing in my body was able to move, my head couldn't turn, and my fingers couldn't bend. Everything seemed out of place. Where was I? Finally I just shut my eyes and did nothing.
"Emily, Emily. Can you hear me?" The startling voices opened my eyes. My eyesight is blurry, but I see faces.
"Hotch, JJ?" I whisper. My eyes sight starts clearing up. I can see that JJ is smiling, but Hotch's face is serious as usual.
"Where am I, what happened", I moan.
"You got in a car crash driving back to the station from the family of the victim's house". "Just stay calm and settle", said JJ trying to comfort me.
I sit up right away but the doctor pushes me back down on to the hospital bed. "Ouch", I say while touching me head and my ribs. "What did I do with my self?" Moans.
"You can't be moving!" says the doctor. "You must stay laying down, you need to get some rest. I'll tell you what injures you have once you have awaken from your rest". The doctor shut my eyelids and as soon as I know it, I'm knocked out.
Time as past, and I've been asleep for a while. I eventually wake up from my rest. As soon as I open my eyes I see the doctor standing right there like he knew when I was going to wake up, I tried to ignore that and started asking questions.
"What are my injures Doc?"
"Not good…one fractured rib, a concoction, and a broken finger".
I sigh at the bad news. Letting my head hit my pillow. "Ow, not again. When wills this stop? When will I be able to carry my gun around and catching Unsubs?" Slightly smiles.
"Wow kiddo, not to many questions at once. It will be a while before you can go back to the Bureau. "
"How long?" Sighing
"I would say about 1-3 months"
I sigh, regretting hearing the bad news. Wondering what I'm going to do for 1-3 months without going into the Bureau. I guess I could play some online scrabble with "Cheeto breath". I smirk to myself. Then sighs again my head resting on the pillow letting my mind travel. I start falling asleep when I hear a knock on my hospital room door. I open my eyes and sit up.
"Oh, hey Jennifer. What are you doing here?"
"I came to see you."
"Wheres the rest of the team?"
"They'll be here soon, I got bored reading files at the BAU so I decided to check up on you. I texted the team to come in around 11:00, if you don't mind..."
"Oh no, it's fine. What time is it?" JJ looks at her phone
"10:30"
"So we have 30 minutes. Now, can you please tell me what he heck happened!" JJ smiles and walks over near the bed ans sits down in the chair next to me.
"Well, as I said before you were in a car crash and-"
"I know this already...what I want to know is what caused the accident, if you know?"
"Well I was just getting to that point before you interrupted me" smirks. Emily stays silent. Jennnifer sighs. "We don't know who or what caused the accident." Emily starts interrupting. "But we will know in a week"
"A week? Why so long?"
"Em, you know what can help us?" Emily looks up at Jennifer and raises one of her eyebrows.
"What?"
"You need to answer a question for me..."
"Of course, anything please Jay." Emily hold Jennifer Jareau's hand. Jennifer sighs.
"This isn't going to be easy to ask or for you to answer..but..." Jay takes a few seconds before asking.
"What Jennifer?" Emily holds Jennifer's hand tighter. Jennifer sighs for the last time.
"Emily, were you drinking?"
They both stare at each other.
