The Older and Wiser Man

(solo)

The only affirmative he will file,

Refers to work that's by the mile,

No golden, sculpted, true-blue, eager Roman;

No sir,

For no Adonis, do I play Venus,

I can tell you that, right now!

Oh please,

Oh gee,

Men like that do nothing for me,

I sigh,

I plead,

For a man who's exactly what I need,

I wish,

There was,

A man with a certain "just because",

The older and wiser man for me!

(piano solo)

No bright-eyed, fresh-faced, tongue-tied, puppy-dog puppy,

Those little boys cause scenes,

Pandora never dreamed,

I prefer to take a chance,

On a more adult romance!

No sweet young thing who keeps resisting,

All the while he keeps persisting,

No sweet-faced, irresponsible man-boy;

No sir,

He's the hunter

And I'm the deer you see

BAM!!

I flee,

I hide,

When the lad with a tag-along air drops by,

I smile,

I grin,

When a man of sophistication walks in,

I hope,

I pray,

For Casanova to have just one more day!

The older and wiser man's the man for me,

(chorus)

The older and wiser man's the man for me!

(All parts in unison)

The older and wiser man,

For me!

Author's Note: The end! LOL, there's really not much to say except that this idea came to me after listening to Matthew Broderick's version of it over and over again. I had so much fun that after awhile I started unconsciously replacing certain words with what kind of things a show girl might sing about. Granted, I don't know very much about show girls except what I learned from reading a fanfic or several by one of my best girls LumBabsFan (VERY shameless plugging). I'm so glad I finally got it all on the screen which brings me to my next point. Thanks so very much to Morfiwien Greenleaf who graciously took the time to not only go over this short little song, but also was very encouraging and complimentary about it. :D Coming from the High Queen of Music Man fanfiction, that means a great amount. She had the idea that this could be something that Marian sings which is very plausible because while Harold eventually came around and saw that virtuous women could be interesting, Marian never gave up her preference for older, more experienced men. This song could be interpreted into anything and I'm rather curious actually to see what people think. Before I go, I must strenuously request that I receive some reviews. I'd love to hear what people think of this new version!
