The Starry night is bright and full of wonder, yet it lays upon cobblestones stained with blood of young men. Revolution, they said, would bring change to all of France. The only change was the night filled with the stench of death, and the devastation swiped across the people's faces knowing their beloved ones died in vain.

I however never felt this pain, I was a bystander of the revolution, letting reality come to grips with others. I played by the law, and I never deviate from it. Some may see me as a heartless women, but I am nothing compared to it. I did love someone, and I still do. "But did he?" was the question. This man that I venture out into the darkness to find is a brute, unsettling, and ruthless to others, yet I found him soft, kind, and loving. His name was Javert, the Chief Inspector of Paris. I look to the stars, hoping and wondering if he is casting his eyes to the same.

I followed the stars to the sounds of water, the rapids flowing in the distance. I made my way around the desolate storefronts and café's to a bridge over the Siene. There stood a man over the edge, casting his eyes to the midnight sky. I knew it was him. "Javert?" I crept up towards him slowly. "Javert please look at me." He stood unfazed, as if he were somewhere else in the world. "Javert…." I trailed off. He finally glanced over, revealing his deep blue sadden eyes. "Anna…"

I wonder. I wonder about the world around me. The subtle nature that surrounds us, the wind that grazes every surface, the water that continues to flow without any indication of stopping. I wonder about this world and the next. And it never ceases to amaze me….

"Anna! Anna my wretched girl, your always clouded by thoughts." A raspy yet heavy voiced came out of nowhere. "Women are to never have such thoughts, mind your own and get back to work!"

I coward to this man, someone who I should look up to, but don't because of his aggressive nature. "Yes Papa…" I said regretfully.
