In The Prefects Bathroom

Steps echoed in a deserted hallway. Dark figure moved across the side, a hand tracing the rough edges of the stone wall. After a big statue the figure came to a halt.

"Alohamora."

The door opened to a large bathroom. Moon's pale light shined in dimly from the big decorative windows. Another person was already in the room leaning to the windowsill, waiting.

"For a moment there I thought you wouldn't come!" The man turned his gaze away from the almost full moon. His face was unreadable.

"I wasn't quite sure what to think when you asked me to meet you here. What is it that you want?" The man at the door asked with a little bit of hope in his voice.

He walked towards his friend. He hesitated as he saw his friend's pale face staring back at him coldly. That beautiful face, those beautiful blue eyes, they used to light up every time their eyes met. But now something was different. He just couldn't help himself and he reached in for a touch.

"Don't even think about it Potter." He stated sternly and turned his back to the other man. He could feel tears fighting they way out, but he tried his best to conceal them.

A realisation comes to the one named Potter. He now knows why he was summoned there. So there was no hope after all.

"I really am sorry, but I owe it to her. I can't just abandon her, not now of all times. I made a promise…."

"A promise?! You say that like you never promised me anything. What makes us so different that you keep your word to her, but not to me? You're just so full of shit Potter. We could have had something. No, damn it, we had something. And now all of a sudden you just want to run back to her." His voice started to crumble he wouldn't be able to hold his guard up for much longer. He leaned on the windowsill, his legs were barely holding him up.

Potter couldn't help it, he loved Sirius more than anything, but Lily….

It hurt him so much to see Sirius like this. Sirius had always been the strong one. He took a step forward and closed the distance between them. He wrapped his arms around Sirius and rested his head down on the other mans shoulder. Sirius didn't stop him this time. For a moment they just stood there enjoying each others familiar warmth.

"Do you really feel that there is something wrong with us being like this?" Sirius asked with a faint voice.

"No, but…." He didn't have the time to finish that sentence as he was pushed away.

"But, what?!"

Silence fell around them. James couldn't get the words out. He just tried to keep himself from running out of the room like a coward. He tried his best to hold his tears, but when he looked at Sirius he just couldn't control himself. He could hardly breathe. He missed his touch, his warmth, his words, his kiss, his….everything. Gosh, he just missed everything about the other man.

But no, he could not tell the other that. He could not do that to Sirius. It would hurt even more if said those words aloud. He had already made up his mind, he could never leave Lily. Not now, when she was….

"Pregnant. Lily is pregnant…. "James was finally able to say those daunting words out loud.

Sirius lifted his gaze up. He was just about to say something unforgivable, but the look on James' eyes silenced him. He could finally see how all this was also hurting James.
