Here goes. Just another little drabbly thing, 'cuz I was bored in I.T. =P
Disclaimer: Yeah, I wish.
"Describe it to me."
"What?" Galinda questioned. Elphaba and she were in their dorm room doing homework, because it was raining too hard to go outside. Elphaba looked over from her position at the window.
"Tell me what it's like…the rain" Elphaba almost regretted asking the question now, it was a ridiculous thing to ask. She could see the confusion on Galinda's face, as she tried to think of an answer.
"Well, it's very…wet" Elphaba quickly glanced out of the window, then muttered, "Y'know, it doesn't matter"
"No. No" Galinda quickly replied, as she walked across the room to join Elphaba on the window sill, "I'll tell you, it's just something I've never properly thought about."
Galinda sat down, and stared out of the window.
"Y'know, in the spring-time. When the sun has just set, and the sky has darkened, and it's still warm enough to go without a coat. You're on the way to your dorm, and it starts to drizzle, just lightly at first, and it gets a little harder, but not too bad. It's too fine to see when it's so dark, but if you look into the light of the street lamps, they reflect and shine in all different colours," Galinda sighed and pressed her forehead against the glass, before continuing.
"The pavements are dull and grey throughout the day, but in the streetlamp light, they shine from the wetness. And the sound, that pitter-patter that just manages to keep in rhythm with your heart. Nothing seems to matter anymore, your hair and your clothes are soaked through, and your shoes are completely water-logged, but nobody cares. It looks so sad and dreary from inside, but out there, it's…it's…amazing."
Elphaba turned her eyes from the window to look at Galinda, her eyes shining, and a smile stretched across her face as she quietly whispered,
"Thank you."
