My first Natasha Romanoff fic. She's one of my favorite Avengers... right after Tony Stark. ANYWAY, this is my version of how Natasha felt when Hawkeye saved her and took her to SHEILD instead of killing her. Sorry it's short :P

When Natasha Romanoff learned that Clint Barton, Hawkeye, had been sent to kill her, not help her realize her mistakes in life, she didn't know what to say. She didn't know what to do.

For so long, she had been a cold-blooded killer nobody had shown the slightest kindness to, and this sudden act of kindness shook her knowledge of the world to her very core.

She was surprised; surprised that the master archer had spared her life. Her, the killer, the last thing so many people had seen right before they died. The assassin. The Black Widow. He had saved her, even when she deserved to die.

She deserved to die because of all the deaths she had caused, all the sorrow she left in her wake.

He taught her compassion; he taught her that sometimes, kindness was okay, and that it was all right to feel, to be hurt, to break down every once in a while and cry your heart out for all the injustice in the world.

He taught her about SHEILD; about the rest of the world she never knew existed. It was that day, when Hawkeye had saved her, that she cried, cried her heart out for all that injustice, and it was the first time in a long time.

It was also her last.

Because that day, as Clint held her while she kneeled on the floor of that nameless hotel, she pledged to herself to never again kill for the sake of killing. Never again would she work for her own selfish needs, and never, ever again would she let those tears stream down her face.

Any good? Please review :)
