A/n- due to the many good responses from reviewers (?),
I've decided to make a sequel to Girl in the Mirror, actually, more of a
prequel, since it's about how Sakura and Syaoran broke up in the first
place. No, this is not a songfic like
the last one. This is called, "The
Reason."
Sakura Kinomoto hummed softly as she danced to her
radio. The song, "Liquid Dreams" (a/n-
I just LOVE that song!!!), was playing and then the DJ came on.
Sakura stopped dancing and sat on her bed, drenched in
sweat.
The cutest boy on campus, Syaoran Li, was her boyfriend,
the most popular girl in school, Tomoyo Daidouji (a/n- that's not true, I just
made it up), was her best friend, plus, she was popular herself. Life is good.
"Hey squirt, go to sleep." Her brother, Touya peeked in.
"Hai," she turned off the radio and switched to a clean
night gown before drifting off to sleep.
* At school the day after *
"Sakura," Syaoran beckoned for Sakura to come with him.
"What is it?" she followed, curious.
"Listen, I err," Syaoran held his breath,
"Iwannabreakupizzatokaywithyou?"
"Pardon?" Sakura looked puzzled.
"Sorry, I mean, I wanna break up is that okay with you?"
"…" Sakura was speechless. Why does he want to break up? She wondered, and voiced it, "Why?"
"Because, erm, there's this girl, she's, uh, really nice
and pretty, and she wanted to, um, date me, so, err, I accepted." Syaoran
stammered, looking at his shoes.
"Oh." Sakura answered flatly, and before she could stop
it, tears were streaming freely down her cheeks.
"Gomen ne." Syaoran said quietly, not daring to make eye
contact.
Sakura spun away and darted into the girls' restroom…just
as the tardy bell rang.
* After school in the school auditorium *
Sakura sat on the empty stage, glassy-eyed.
"Just because of this girl he wants to break up
with me…" she muttered, hugging her knees to her chest and rocking lightly on
the bed.
"Sometimes I run (a/n- I sang that song in fifth grade for
a talent show, you know, Sometimes by Britney Spears…I lost
miserably…_)…" a voice sang, it sounded oddly like Tomoyo's!
"Tomoyo?" Sakura called out.]
"Sakura?" Tomoyo blushed, she always sneaked here
afterschool to practice her voice.
"C'mere." Sakura patted the seat next to hers.
Tomoyo walked up to her friend and sat down tentatively
next to her.
"So, you sing here?" Sakura asked, brushing a tear away.
"You were crying?" Tomoyo said incredulously.
Sakura nodded.
"Why?" Tomoyo asked, concerned.
"Syaoran broke up with me." Sakura sniffled.
"WHY???" Tomoyo was outraged, how dare that baka,
Syaoran Li, break her best friend's heart!!!
"He met this really cute and nice girl that wants to go
out with him." Sakura said, and kicked a stage prop out of spite.
"Oh." Tomoyo was silent.
"Well, better go, see ya." Sakura walked home.
You know the rest, Sakura rocking herself on the bed and
pounding her pillows. Just read "Girl
in the Mirror."
A/n- that's all folks! Eep, I finished three stories today. Well, mainly cuz it's a holiday (Lincoln's Birthday). First it was "Takeru's Mistake," then
"Finally Able to Love" and finally this, "The Reason." ("Takeru's Mistake" and "Finally Able to
Love" are all chapters from "Decisions." Oh, I finished Chapter four of it. It's the Takari version of chapter three! It's pretty short though, ah well. -_-) Later dayz,
