A sweet thing

By Lady Firebird

Ginny sat in a corner of the library waiting for the tutor that was going to help her get ahead in Tranfiguration. Professor McGonagall said that she was one of the best students she had ever taught, and she should be allowed to go ahead of the other students in her year, so she was going to be taught by one of the older students. Ginny thought that it was going to be Hermonie, or Harry. Not her brother Ron though, because, he wasn't so good at it himself.

"Oh, there you are." Ginny looked up at the voice that addressed her only to find herself locking eyes with none other than Draco Malfoy. She groaned inwardly. Why did he have to be her tutor. What had she ever done to deserve this? "McGonagall said that you were really smart at this, and she said that I should go over with you what I learned every day in class." Malfoy looked down at his toes.

"Before we start, why are you the one that's tutoring me, and not one of the others? McGonagall knows how much you hate me." Ginny blushed as red as her hair. She started to gather her books thinking that Malfoy couldn't possibly want to help her in any way.

"I'm doing the Professor a favor. She's been really nice to me, and I don't hate you… I just…." Malfoy started to turn redder than Ginny. "My father didn't like your family, and he always said that if he ever found out that I was friends with one of you, that he'd disinherit me. And now that he's become a death eater again, I didn't want to join that side. I'm not evil, no matter what everyone thinks. But anyway, let's get to work. Today in class we turned mud pies into chocolate." He reached into a bag at his feet and took out a mud pie, and set it down on the table. "The incantation is Sweetentum Chocolateum." Ginny took out her wand, and then looked at the mud pie.

"Sweetentum Chocolateum" Ginny said as she waved her wand in the correct pattern. In a flash the oozing mud pile was a piece of milk chocolate, and it looked good enough to eat.

"Way to go! That was good. I couldn't do that on the first try. Are you feeling brave enough to eat it?" Malfoy said daringly. "If you eat a piece, then I will too. How about that?" He then reached down and broke the chocolate in half and gave half to Ginny. "On the count of three. One…. Two…. Three!" They both popped the chocolate in their mouths and chewed.

"Well, I think it tastes a bit sandy, but other than that, it's okay." Ginny smiled at her success. Malfoy smiled.

"I don't think that this tutoring thing is going to be a problem. But, hey Ginny? Don't tell Potter, and them about my father, and all that. I don't want them to think…"

Malfoy turned red again.

"I know. But just as long as we get to be friends while we're alone. I won't mind pretending to despise you everywhere else." Ginny smiled at her new friend.

"Well actually, I was thinking. I know that you have a thing for Potter, but I kinda' have had this crush on you. I could have never said anything before, but would it be alright if I kissed you?" Malfoy smiled at Ginny nervously, and she nodded. As they kissed, the chocolate that they had eaten lost all of the gritty sandness, and became the sweetest thing in the whole world.
