In an alternate universe, XANA doesn't exist, or at least not as a computer virus. The gang is just a group of average teens. But in this world, creatures exist, so their average is a bit different. Each one of them is a different type of creature and the academy is used for training creatures, or humans with abilities, to control their powers.

Code Lyoko is owned by Thomas Romain. I am in no way associated with the show.

Yumi arrived at Kadic Academy, the place where she would be learning to control her abilities. It upset her that the rules included that the students weren't allowed to disclose what kind of creature they were to other students, since she could tell who was human, and though creatures all had differing scents like humans, it was just on a slightly stronger scale than humans.

Some of them had stronger scents and some of them were lighter, but they all differed, just like with humans. It was still impossible to tell between different creatures. Being a vampire wouldn't help with that. Though it would help that unlike the myths of natural humans, she wasn't afraid of sunlight.

She found a place to sit on a bench in the sun. Even though she could still get a bad sunburn very quickly, sitting in the sun was something she enjoyed. It was nice, just sitting there, thinking about what was happening. Her parents moved here suddenly and she'd had to say goodbye to everyone she knew. She didn't know why they suddenly left. There was a school in Japan that also taught creatures to control their powers.

She was starting to think it was her controlling grandfather that forced her family to leave. He wanted her father to take over the 'family business', but her father didn't want to, so her grandfather had been tracking him down since to force him into it. She let out a heavy sigh and stayed there, having nothing more to do than think.

Jeremie walked up to the school, a bit nervous. One of the rules was that students couldn't reveal their true nature, but he'd never really been able to control when he turned into dragon form. Even now, he started to loose control, right arm turning to yellow scales the same color as his hair. "Come on, not now," he pulled down his sleeve in an attempt to hide his hand.

He tried to get to his room as quick as possible, running in and shutting the door. He dropped to the floor, sighing in relief. He looked around, noticing there were two beds. "Oh, no. Please don't tell me I have a roommate." He couldn't hide his secret forever if he had a roommate, there was just no way. Still, he could at least hope he didn't freak them out.

Ulrich was a bit annoyed that his father sent me here. It was like he didn't want him around anymore. Did he hate him that much? Then again, he didn't know the woman he loved was a werewolf and his son was going to be one too. Still, his mother and father had stayed together, even though she didn't tell him the truth until Ulrich was born. His father being a natural human, without any abilities, he still didn't like the idea so much and he proved that by acting like Ulrich didn't exist.

He looked around the schoolyard, seeing all the people. They were all different like him and that did make him feel a bit better. No one would judge him for who he was, even more so since he wasn't allowed to reveal that he was a werewolf. Still, being a werewolf made it easier to tell who was human, but he couldn't tell the difference between creatures.

He quickly gathered his bags and went up to his room. There were bags already next to the other bed and he realized that his roommate must have already arrived. Ulrich didn't see him around, but heard something. It was barking, mixed with a bit of growling, and shortly after he noticed a small dog hiding in the corner. "Great, an animal," Ulrich rolled his eyes," Animals naturally hate werewolves." He tried to ignore the small gray dog as he started unpacking.

After arriving and getting his stuff in his room, Odd had to use the bathroom. He was washing his hands now and wondered if his roommate had arrived. The rule for was going to be hard to follow for him, a human with a shape shifting ability, stuck in a hybrid form. Because of it, he always had cat ears and a tail.

His ears were easy to flatten and hide in his hair, since they were the same color. His tail, on the other hand, had to be stuffed in his pants. It kind of hurt and it was really annoying. Not only that, but with a roommate, he wouldn't be able to change in my own room without his rommate finding out he was a shape shifter.

He headed back to see his roommate had now arrived, hearing his dog barking at him and growling a bit, which he normally didn't do. "Kiwi, stop that!" Odd scolded him, putting him in the drawer he'd left open for him and mostly closing it so he couldn't get out.

"I'm sorry about my dog," Odd told the brunette boy now staring at me," He doesn't normally growl like that. He's usually a good dog."

"Well, I'm not surprised he hates me," the boy replied," Name's Ulrich Stern. Nice to meet you, I guess."

"Odd Della Robia," He gave him his name in exchange," Ulrich. Isn't that German or something? They don't have a school for creatures in Germany, right?"

"Yeah, that's right," Ulrich answered," My dad shipped me away the first chance he got. Though I can't say I care. He never really seemed to get along with me anyway. Look, I don't really want to talk about this right now."

Odd had a small scowl now, but didn't push the subject. He would've preferred a roommate more willing to talk to him.

Aelita hid pointed ears the moment she got close to the school. She turned back to my father and gave him a kiss on the cheek and saying," Bye, daddy. I hope you make progress with your research", then left to go up to the school, waving to him one last time.

Even though they didn't live all that far, it was still too far of a drive for him. It did take a couple of hours to get here and back and that was too much time for her father to take out of his research every day. And since her mother was gone, she would be staying here instead.

She saw everyone around her and it made her smile to see so many people the same as herself. Well, not quite the same. After all, there were all types of creatures here. She was just an elf, one of the few creatures with no second form, though that meant all she had to do was hide her ears.

She went up to my dorm room and saw two empty beds. "Oh, great, I've got a roommate," she smiled and set her things by one of the beds and started unpacking. Once finished, she laid on the bed for awhile.

William was still on the bus to the school. He had a few marbles and was twirling them around an inch above his hand. He'd always had this power to move things, just had to move a hand and think about what he wanted them to do and they would move. Though that wasn't the only thing about him, since he was born into a family of demons.

His entire family consisted of demons dating back to his great grandfather with three extra greats. His demon form wasn't all that different from his human form though, not like most demons. His eyes changed to red, he gained leathery black wings, and had to small black horns.

None of the family understood why he wasn't like the others, until they found out that his mother was actually a biomorphic human. She could morph into any living form she wanted, even to look like a demon. His father actually already knew, but never told anyone, not even his own son. After it was revealed, they were removed from the family and forced to leave.

The day they left was the same day William had discovered his ability. He had been angry and started shouting at his parents, because he didn't want to leave. He'd ended up loosing control and crashing the plane they were traveling on into the ground. William and his father were the only survivors, being the only inhuman passengers on the plane.

After that, his father tried to take care of him as best he could, which wasn't always a good thing. After all, William wasn't full demon. He was different from him, but he treated his son as if he was the same most of the time. He was kind of glad he'd be away from his father for awhile. The bus finally stopped and a few people got off, including him.

He waited for one of the people who worked on the bus to take his bags out of the storage area, then grabbed them. He looked at the room number he was assigned and went up. He wasn't sure if his roommate was there or not, or if he had one, so he knocked on the door. "Hey, is anyone in there? If there is, I'm your roommate."

The door opened and a blonde boy with glasses stood there. He actually looked a bit younger than him. "Thanks," he gave him a bit of a smile, coming in," I'm William. William Dunbar. Nice to meet you." He held out a hand.

"Jeremie Belpois," he looked down at William's hand, but didn't take it. In fact, it looked like he hid his own arm behind his back. "It's nice to meet you William. Strange that they would put a student a year ahead of me as my roommate though."

"I guess that is a bit weird," he realized himself," Maybe there weren't enough rooms or something. Anyway, I'm going back out to the park or something." He told Jeremie before dropping off his bags and leaving again. He just preferred being alone most of the time, unless he was with a girl he liked.

:::::

A girl walked up to the school and breathed in the fresh air. She'd always wanted to go to France, but her parents had never let her before, since there was already a creature school in America. They'd finally agreed after she'd begged them for long enough. Though she wasn't American and neither was her name, she'd lived there all her life. Her father left his homeland and came to America many years ago, though he never told her where he's from.

She was now in France, taking in everything around her. She'd never actually met another creature before today. Luckily, she could hide the icy blue wings the same color as her hair. A lot of people assumed she was an angel when they saw the wings, but she was a siren. This made her a good singer by nature, but she'd never used it to kill people like in legends and folklore.

She moved through the school and seemed to stick out against the other students. She was a bit odd though. Blue wavy hair to the small of her back, pale skin, dark red eyes with flecks of gold in them. Her clothes included a white tank top and red pants with a white cloud pattern near the bottom.

She just ignored the stares and continued up to her room, bags in tow. She got there and went in to see a pink haired girl already there. She looked to be about the same age and she was lying on one of the beds. She got up when she noticed her roomate's arrival.

"Welcome," she gave a big smile, then held out her hand," I'm Aelita Schaeffer."

"Xana Pilietis," she smiled back, shaking the outstretched hand," It's nice to meet you Aelita. I see you've already got one of the beds, I'll take the other." She set down her bags next to it, tired from her trip and said," I'm going to take a nap, if you don't mind. After all, classes don't start until tomorrow."

"Of course, go right ahead," Aelita smiled again. She smiled in return and climbed into the bed, dozing off in less than a minute.

I've been updating the chapters to this fanfiction. My writing style has updated a lot in that time and I just wasn't pleased with my work anymore. Meet the new Academy of Nightmares.

The main difference is that I realized first person is honestly a terrible way to write, though not the worst and it can be pulled off if you're careful. I've updated from first to third, so if you notice any first person words, please inform me in the comments.

The next biggest difference is the way they talk. I've never been really good with quotations and where they go, which is still a problem for me, but it should sound less disjointed now.

The rest is just small changes that make the chapter flow better. Though I did leave one thing the same despite one particular comment. Someone stated that the name Xana was a male name, but there are plenty of girls names used on guys and guys names used on girls, so I'm going to keep her just the way she is. If that makes some sort of problem for you, there's no need to continue reading.

Stay tuned for my chapter two update.
