ANOTHER NOTE: This is my very first story so please don't be too harsh when reading this or commenting. I worked my very hardest in creating this story and feel I've done an ok job, especially since it is my first story. I know it starts off kind of slow but I promise it will pick up, especially when Craig comes into the picture. ;) Enjoy!

Free Bird

Emma Nelson and Manny Santos were getting ready for their first day of 8th grade. As best friends, they helped eachother get ready, making sure their hair and outfits were 8th grade worthy.

"You look gorgeous Miss Manny Santos," Emma said.

"Not so bad yourself Ms. Nelson," Manny replied. Both of the girls giggled. "I can't believe we're going into 8th grade! We are totally going to rule the school!"

"Neither can I!" Emma stated. "And I'm going to help you get that A in math you hoped for last year."

"Hey, better late than never. And more importantly, I'm going to help you get that new boyfriend this year. Unlike last year, one who's sweet and actually gets you."

"Manny, Sean was sweet, and he got me. Sort of."

"Sort of isn't good enough. Sean is as sweet as a bad boy can get."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"He's a trouble maker Em, do you think he has anytime for feelings? I think he'd rather be off getting a 5 finger discount on a pack of gum."

"There's more to him than getting into trouble."

"I thought you were over him. He hurt you badly. You were the one who ended the relationship with him. Don't tell me you're regretting it."

"No you're right. Part of me just wishes that none of that stuff happened last year. You know I like happy endings."

"I know." Manny replied. She picked up her and Emma's bag. She slipped her's over her shoulder and handed Emma's bag to her. "Now come on, we're going to be late." And with that, theywere out the door on their way to Degrassi Community School for the first day of 8th grade.

I don't know why but I feel like I made Manny kind of mean in this story. I didn't mean to I just sort of wrote it that way so sorry for that.

I PROMISE you it will get better. This was sort of like an introduction chapter to set up the story a bit. It'll get more interesting, drama to come!
