No Laundry Today
"Boone, mommy should be doing laundry right now." Jackie told the happy infant that was sitting in her lap.
The baby cooed loudly as Jackie gently shook his rattle.
She chuckled.
Nick had taken the other kids to the park and Jackie had hoped that she could get the babies to sleep so she could get some chores that she had abandoned done and she'd been successful, almost, Ryan was sound asleep upstairs in his crib and Boone had fallen asleep but had only stayed asleep for a matter of minutes and now he was wide awake.
At least he was in a great mood, he let out a squeal again, snapping Jackie out of her momentary trance.
Jackie laughed and shook the rattle again.
"That's alright, playing with you is way more fun then doing laundry anyways." She told him as she kissed the top of his head.
Suddenly the doorbell rang. Jackie gingerly got up to answer it with Boone in her arms.
"Who is it?" Jackie called.
"Carissa and Zachary." Came the answer.
Jackie quickly opened the door.
"Hi." Jackie greeted them as they stepped inside.
"Hi." Carissa responded as they went and sat down on the couch.
"Where is everyone?" Carissa asked, noticing how quiet it was.
"Nick took the kids to the park."
"Park?" Zachary said happily.
"Yeah." Jackie told him with a smile.
"We go to the park mama?" Zachary asked Carissa.
Jackie gave Carissa an apologetic look.
"After we visit with Aunt Jackie for a bit we'll go to the park by our house."
Jackie and Carissa visited for not even three minutes before Zachary looked at his mother again.
"Park now?" He asked her.
"In a little bit." She answered.
The two women visited for exactly two more minutes.
"Go now?" The small child asked.
Carissa laughed and gave up.
"We'll come by and visit you again soon, but for now we better go because we aren't getting to visit anyways." Carissa told Jackie with a laugh.
"Ok, have fun Zachary."
"Park." Zachary said, shaking his head vigorously.
The two women burst out laughing.
"Bye." Jackie told her sister and her nephew.
"Bye." Carissa told her while the small child just waved.
Not long after Zachary and Carissa left Nick came back with the other kids.
None of the laundry had gotten done, it was just going to have to wait.
