Author's Note: This is for the people who sent me private e-mails asking why I didn't let Wei Yan get drunk.

Chapter One: Too Much Drink.

** Wei Yan stretched in his sleep, sated for the first time in five years. One arm reached out and pulled the warm body closer. The woman gave a contented sigh and wiggled backwards, getting nearer to him.

A frown formed on his lips. It was as dark as Sima Yi's heart in the tent, but soon the sun would begin its climb through the heavens. He could almost feel its sweet rays in his bones. The troops would be awaiting him in the practice arena with the rising of the daystar. A sigh escaped him. He hadn't had a woman in his chambers, much less his bed, in years. Who knew when he might get another chance like this? He contemplated staying in bed just so he could memorize the feel of soft warm skin against his own.

His hands tightened unconsciously on the woman's body. This wouldn't last. This woman could only be one of two different kinds. She was either one of the 'ladies' who always seemed to follow armies, or a female bodyguard of one of the generals' ladies. Whoever the lady was, she must have been extremely drunk to come willingly to his bed. Not many women would bother with him while Jiang Wei and Ma Chao were still without wives. At least he could find solace in the fact that he still remembered where everything went.

The woman gave a sexy little moan that sent blood speeding through his body. Everything from last night was hazy, he could blame that on the wine that Lord Liu Bei had been so free with. Of what he did remember, he recalled several very good moments. The lady might have her regrets, but she would never be able to claim she hadn't enjoyed it.

The woman turned in his arms, burying her head against his chest. Her skin smelled ever so slightly of horses, but it was amazingly soft. Surely it must be one of the female bodyguards. The camp women would never allow the smell of horses and leather to belong anywhere on their skin. Grinning, he allowed his hands free rein to explore. Just which one could it possibly be?

In the dark of the tent he couldn't see the woman's features, so he went down the list of female bodyguards. Mei Mei? Himiko? Just which one would it be? They all looked somewhat the same, they were related after all. Black hair? That was a given. Brown eyes a man could drown in? Without a doubt. They were all pretty in their own way, but none of them seemed to care for men much.

The woman threw a leg around him and snuggled closer. Yes, practice would definitely he called off today. Well not called off, he simply wouldn't go. His men would be smart enough to leave him alone, especially if they thought he was sleeping in because of a hangover.

His hands ceased its lazy circles over her skin. Perhaps Huang Zhong had finally made good on his promise to find him a suitable wife? His arms shook. Hadn't he told the old man he didn't want a wife? Weren't Zhao Yun and Zhang Fei proof that a woman could drive a man insane? Besides, what type of woman would want to stay with him? A gasp of alarm came from the woman draped over him. She was awake, and from her reaction, she hadn't expected to wake up with him.

He gave a sigh. Women were such odd creatures. Getting out of the bed, he crossed over to the window. It was time to shed a little light on the subject. The first weak rays of sunlight crept into the room. He turned back to the bed, and the apology died on his lips.

Terror ran a race with confusion and hysteria in his mind. Confusion won. Lady Yue Ying sat board straight, the covers pulled up so he couldn't even see her shoulders. Her gray eyes were gigantic in her face. "Oh gods." Her voice was barely a whisper.

The words were too mild for this situation. Zhuge Liang would kill him.
