Don't look Down on Me
Note: this is the first fanfic I've actually decided to post, reviews are more than welcome
Disclaimer: Sadly I don't own any of these characters, only the plot is mine. I'm just one of those little trekkie nerds wanting to write some of my own stuff.
Tom had been hard at work on a new holodeck program. He knew that Harry would feel left out, but he had decided this final product would be one of his very own. One he could say he and only he produced. He hadn't done this for awhile. He had either had Harry helping him concoct some new, completely whacked program, or B'Elanna at his side, criticizing anything and everything, but he knew that was one of the reasons he loved her so much. She wasn't ever afraid to voice her opinion. She was a strong woman, and never afraid to take on anybody. After his demotion, most of the crew had looked down on him and acted as if he wasn't worth their time. The holodeck was his getaway. It was somewhere where he wouldn't have to deal with arrogant doctors and egotistical crewmembers. Sure, he makes mistakes, possibly more than the rest, but that didn't make him a bad person. Just someone who is still learning, still growing, and in some ways, he thought this was a good thing. He particularly liked how he still maintained an overactive imagination. Many people often lose that ability before adulthood. He figured this was because he was given too much time to think at several points in his life.
Being a 20th century pop culture expert, Tom decided he would try something in this area, but at the same time something he had never tried before. Most of his works were of little cafés in various parts of Europe, or quiet lakes of his own creations. What he called his "specialty" were places where a couple could go for a romantic evening. The other crewmembers that used these programs had begun to think this is all that happened in the 20th century: calm, quiet places to go and relax. Now he was out to create something relaxing, but not as quiet. Somewhere where a bunch of friends could go and hang out.
Tom set his mind on a typical 1990's club. Sure, Sandrine's would be somewhat similar, but he decided this club would be a bit more exciting. He set to work on the creative lighting commonly used in these such clubs. These included blacklights, strobelights (the doctor would object if he was ever informed), and other lights of varying bright colors. He then created the bar, and pool tables. Much like Sandrine's. Then he had an idea. Why not a stage? There's nothing better than a band playing live. After searching the databases, he finally decided on a typical rock band with get-up music and diversity.
