It was a cold windy day as Lauren made her way through town. She was living in Rome as an exchange student. As she walked down the narrow cobblestone road, she thought about her home and all her friends. She remembered her boyfriend, Shawn. Shawn was a musician who was very popular in America. Lauren missed him the most, his hugs and his kisses were making her homesick so she shook away the memory just in time to see someone on a moped coming towards her. She moved aside but instead of going past, they stopped right next to her.
"Um… Ciao?" Lauren said unsure if he knew English.
"Ciao!" The stranger said. "Wait do you know English because I don't know a lot of Italian."
"Yea I know English. So what do you want?" Lauren asked.
"I just saw that you were walking all alone and wanted a ride?" he asked.
"I don't take rides from strangers sorry." Lauren said and started to walk away.
"Wait! I'm Niall so what's your name?" Niall asked.
"Lauren. Nice to meet you." Lauren said hesitant.
"So now that I'm not a stranger do you want to go get coffee?" Niall asked.
"Is that a date?" Lauren responded.
"Only if you want it to be." Niall answered.
"I will have coffee with you but it isn't a date." Lauren replied.
Lauren was curious about Niall but didn't want him to know who her boyfriend was in case he knew Shawn.
