Age notes: Tommy is about eighteen, Dil is about seventeen and Angelica is about twenty one.

Tommy, Dil and Angelica Pickles all stood with their family and friends at the cemetery staring at the casket in front of them. It was actually a beautiful day out, however no amount of sunshine or cool breezes could cheer the Pickles family up for one of their most important members was missing.

Several days earlier, Lulu Pickles gave everyone the awful news that Lou Pickles had suffered a heart attack. Upon hearing the news, Stu, Didi, Tommy, Dil, Angelica and Drew all rushed to the hospital but it was too late. Lulu, who was in tears, told them even worse news than before; Lou had died. At approximately 10:34 in the morning on a Saturday in the middle of October, Louis Kalhern Pickles was no more. He had lived a full Ninety Six years.

The death of Lou was tragic for everyone. Lulu lost her husband, Stu and Drew had lost their father, Miriam Pickles lost her cousin and Tommy, Dil and Angelica lost their beloved grandfather.

Over the next several days, the Pickles family and their friends all helped to arrange the funeral and now that day had finally come.

The minister had finished his speech about how good of a person Lou was, from his service in the late Vietnam War to his service as a bus driver. After he finished everyone gave their own short condolences to Lou starting with Lulu.

Lulu walked up to the white and silver casket and placed a white rose on it.

"You were a great man, Lou" said Lulu over tears, "these last several years we spent together were the happiest in my life."

Lulu walked back towards the others as Miriam walked up to the casket with her own white rose.

"Oh, Lou" said Miriam, "you were always a great cousin. And even though we didn't always get along, I wouldn't have been able to go through life without you."

Once Miriam was finished with her words, Drew walked up with his rose.

"You always a good father, Pop" said Drew, "and it's hard to imagen life without you."

Drew wiped tears from his eyes as he finished and Stu walked up.

"Oh, Pop" said Stu, "you were always there for me and my family even when times were tough."

Once Stu had finished, his son Tommy walked up to the casket with his own white rose. As he approached it he remembered all the times he had spent with his grandpa. He remembered that time Lou saved him from the river when he was only two years old and all those times he told him and his brother stories.

Tommy placed the rose on the casket and spoke his words.

"I couldn't have asked for a better Grandfather" said Tommy before letting Dil come up.

"Thank you for everything, Grandpa" said Dil as Angelica came up.

"We'll miss you Grandpa Lou" said the blond.

Once everyone was finished, the casket was lowered into the hole in the ground as everyone sobbed and hugged each other. Several minutes later everyone was getting ready to leave the cemetery.

"I'm gonna miss Grandpa Lou" said Dil.

"Me to" said Tommy.

"Me three" said Angelica, "but I'm glad Grandpa Lou was able to have a good life with everyone."

"You know, you're right Angelica" said Tommy, "he may not be with us anymore but I'm glad he was in our life regardless."

With that, everyone headed left the cemetery with Lou in their memories and hearts.

The End
