He finally sets her on her feet when they reach her father's truck, and he wouldn't have let go of her then if it weren't for the fact he only had one bloody hand. Hooks don't work well for opening doors that require pushing and pulling at the same time.

Emma is still wobbly and not really feeling her extremities, so he hurries, getting the door open and lifting her inside. He slides into the seat next to her and fiddles with the steering wheel, feeling around for the key slot. He finds it behind the wheel and to the side.

"How do you make this thing go, love?"

She points at the key and says, "T…turn."

He does, and the engine roars to life. He grins, liking the brief sensation of command. Emma is shivering violently, so he wraps his arm around her and pulls her in as close as he can get her, but the leather of both of their coats seems too thick to allow any heat to transfer between them. Emma reaches toward a knob on the panel that shows a display ranging from blue to red. Killian understands and lets go of her long enough to turn it all the way to the right. Next to it is a drawing of a fan and a switch. He pushes that over, too.

She nods in gratitude and snuggles in tighter to him. He drapes his arm around her again and she nuzzles her face into his neck. He closes his eyes, relishing the sensation of her breath, knowing it means that he hasn't lost her. His lips find her soft hair, and she works her hands under his coat and rests them against his waist. He can feel their iciness through his vest, and the frustration and fear resume their battle in his gut. Emma mutters something that he can't understand, but the words don't matter to him. Nothing is removing her from his embrace, not even her father and the ice woman, when they reach the vehicle. He simply lifts Emma and pulls her onto his lap as he slides over into the middle of the seat. The prince helps Elsa in and then runs around to sit behind the wheel.

Killian admires the man's calm and gathers some strength from it. The truck is in motion and going back to the town, which is now alight once more.

Tomorrow, Emma's father will be teaching him how to drive this thing.
