Kara in her new AU:
I trudged down the road and scuffed my shoes purposely to slow down. "Kashi!" I perked up at the voice and stopped as the girl caught up to me. "You didn't wait for me. Shame." She poked me and I saw a glimmer in her green eyes. She slid her arm around mine and smiled. "Forgetful Kashi-kun..." She tsk-ed and we started walking arm in arm. The park was unusually empty and I didn't sense any one spying on us so I relaxed.
Kara sighed with content as she rested her head on my shoulder and I closed my eyes as a brief blast of wind brought her familiar scent into my nose. "Sorry about that, I got lost on the path of life..." She shrugged and sighed again.
"Take me to the memorial one of these days Kashi-kun. I know you were visiting Obito-chan, so don't hide the fact that you miss your best friend from me." I blinked at her and she just smiled up at me. A sweet, all knowing one.
"KASHI! WAIT FOR ME!" And then I knew why she had smiled at me like that. I raised my eyebrow at her and she just shrugged it off.
"How do you always do that?" I craned my head to see my living team mate Rin running at us in a white Medical Officer's uniform. "What Rin? Do you need help with something?"
Her smile slid off her face and she sighed. "I guess not. Bye Kashi..."
I grit my teeth together. "I told you not to call me that Rin." Kara looked over my shoulder and tsk-ed me again.
"Be nice to her Kashi-kun. She has to deal with you WAY more than I do." I pulled her closer and continued to glare in Rin's general direction.
"N-no! It's okay... I have to go anyways... bye Kashi..." She turned around and began trudging away as I started walking in the other direction. Kara slid her arm out of mine and shook her green haired head.
"You know I don't know to be so mean..." She nodded and placed my arm on her shoulders as she wrapped hers around my waist.
"You know what Kashi-kun?" I looked down at her as she spoke softly, like she was reliving a pleasant memory.
I pulled her closer, "What is it? Did that thing hurt you again?" She smiled at the ground.
"No, nothing like that... Its just... well, will you stay in my barrack tonight until I fall asleep?" I could tell she was blushing and I sighed with relief. She turned to face me when I didn't reply, "Did I say something-" She stopped speaking when I pulled her into a hug.
"Of course... why wouldn't I?" I whispered into her hair. When she left my grip we stood there, basking in each others presence as we normally did. I glanced at her and smiled at the sight of her green hair glowing in the sunset's maroon glow. Everything seemed just right... perfect even... "Kara... I want you to know..." She looked at me curiously, "That I think I love you."
She sucked in a breath before letting it out in a sigh of what I assumed to be relief. She pulled down my mask and murmured, "I love you too, Kakashi Hatake..."
