Authors Note- This is a story that I just felt like writing one day. It is totally random, and it's unusual for me. It's kinda strange... let me know what you think!
Esmerelda Higgins was not happy. She had explicitly told Aureole to leave the poor human girl to herself – but did she listen? No. Aureole was a "Young, independent fairy god mother," that needed to be, "Left to grow and develop on her own" according to the Fairy God Mother coordinator, anyway. Esmerelda had certainly done that, and now they were in this huge mess that was hers to clean up!
"What is wrong with this world?! Where is the justice?"Esmerelda shouted to no one in particular, quoting one of her favorite human books that would be written in about two hundred years.
Esmerelda was the Queen's advisor's advisor's advisor, which meant that she was in charge of a lot of things, including five hundred fairy god mothers. Aureole was a new fairy god mother who had tried to help human Ella, but instead, ended up ruining her life. So now, the poor mortal was left orphaned, to be abused by three mean and rather ugly women.
The situation wouldn't be so bad if she was just a normal human girl, but she wasn't- Ella was a person who would be a key in the lock of fate, and her life simply had to turn out happily. Every fairy knew that.
Esmerelda had received a letter that morning. It was from the Queen- that meant she either had a promotion, or that she was in enormous trouble. Esmerelda had guessed in favor of 'enormous trouble'. She was right.
The letter read:
To Miss Esmerelda KlavdiyaAlisiaJocelin Higgins, (All fairy names were that long, and were always written that way.)
I have received intelligence that a fairy god mother in your charge (Aureole ErinToiréasaNiamh Epuliae) has neglected to fulfil her God Mother duties, which has resulted in changing Human Ella's life for the worse.
By order of the Queen, you make sure that Ella's life returns to the correct path. You are to see to it personally: Meaning, I want no one else but you to put right her life.
Dictated by her Royal Highness, Queen EileenNoreenGunhildGwenfrewi Rocheband of the Kingdom of Hilarioos Mountain, and Surrounding Providences.
After she had read this, Esmerelda had hissed a stream of profanities that actually made a palace guard jump.
Great, she had thought, fantastic. Now I have to go spend how many years in the human world- as a fairy god mother, no less!
She had to because the Queens word was binding law.
Esmerelda had marched up to her office, which was where she sat presently, and set about formulating a plan.
