James was feeling very tired after his coal run that night. In fact he was tired, he felt like he was dragging himself along the line.
Thank goodness for this shed. He murmured as he drew into a berth next to Percy.
Hello James! Percy peeped.
Hello James responded softly. But his eyes soon closed and he was fast asleep.
Percy felt very confused.
"But James just got back! I wanted to know about his coal run!"
"He's just worn out." Edward replied. "Let him sleep Percy, and I'm sure he'll feel livelier in the morning."
"Likely!" retorted Thomas sarcastically. "James hates early mornings!"
"Of course there's that." Edward added with a groan. "Once you wake him up, he wouldn't stop moaning to go back to sleep which-" here he redirected the conversation back to their more important issue. "We should do so now, or we'll be as bad as him when we wake up!"
After Edward Percy and Thomas exchanged goodnights, they all settled to sleep.
Percy hoped that James would feel better enough to tell him about his coal run in the morning- or whenever the pair next had time to chat.
