Draco's Tale : Prologue
"Oh, he's beautiful," said the glowing new mother, sweat glistening upon her pale forehead and her usually coiffed white-blond hair matted to her forehead.
"Lucius, he is wonderful," she said, pale blue eyes creased up at the corners and shining with emotion.
Lucius merely raised an eyebrow at her and the child. "You've done a good job, Narcissa."
The new father looked sleek next to his wife and son on the St. Mungo's bed. His black robes of the finest silk were laying across the chair in the corner of the room. His buttoned shirt's sleeves were rolled up just past his elbow.
He reached an arm out expectantly towards his wife, and she handed their son over to him, pride in her eyes.
"Waaaaaaaaaaaa," the infant screamed.
The child opened his eyes and stared into the eyes of Lucius. Immediately the child stopped crying and started laughing as his tiny fists closed around a lock of Lucius's platinum hair and yanked.
Lucius simply pushed away the child's hand, but one corner of his mouth inched up into the tiniest smile.
"Welcome to our world, Draconis. "
The otherwise innocent statement had a hidden meaning to it that Narcissa recognized as she looked up at her husband, dread erasing the joy in her eyes.
