Disclaimer: I do not own Manchurian Candidate.

Complicated Men.

Raymond hadn't really thought about it before.

It wasn't much to think about.

That is until he saw Bennett Marco's picture.

He'd thought of all people, as just that, people. Indistinguishable, common, similar. He'd always thought of Marco as...different. It just hadn't really been brought to his attention until then.

Looking at that picture, in the restaurant, was like being drenched in cold water. Coming to a sudden realization he had thrust the picture away in mock disgust, unsure of what to think.

To be entirely cliched, it plagued him.

Marco was just so...Ben was just so...He couldn't really find the right word. Uncommon, unceremonious, odd?

They were dangerous thoughts. Whenever Raymond contemplated them he found himself regarding the mirror in disgust. He was too simple, too plain.

Too unlike Bennet Marco.

And the Captain was just so...complex and...wonderful. Some one Raymond would want to be.

Some one impossible for Raymond to be.

He remembers when a soldier had jokingly swatted him on the arm and then regarded him seriously before admitting Raymond to be a 'complicated' man. It wasn't exactly a fond memory.

And suddenly that's it. That's the word.

Bennett Marco is Complicated. And Raymond wishes he knew more.
