Crack… Crack… CRACK
"It's hatching" Sandstone exclaimed,
"Well, it's been long enough" Inferno snarled.
Crack, the dragonet was struggling to hatch. The moons were shining and the egg, a blinding silver. "Nightlight, get over here, your egg is hatching!"
"I'm coming Sandstone" Nightlight replied. She stumbled over barely missing the egg.
"WATCH IT" Inferno shrieked, his tail thrashing madly. "This dragonet is mine and Nightlight's if any of you touch it, i will burn you all. To prove his point, he set fire to a nearby tree with the tip of his claw. "Inferno, calm down please" Nightlight whispered. She checked to make sure she was wearing her pouch, and gently rested her claws on Inferno's shoulder. The smell of burning flesh filled the cave. Nightlight withdrew her claw, and cradled it. Inferno gave her an apologetic look. Sandstone went to grab the safety blanket for inferno. "Ah! Help! There is a creature here!" Sandstone froze. A scavenger, they were so rare these days. It was a small. Female, only the size of a dragon's talon. Inferno rose and engulfed it in a series of fire blasts. "The egg! It's gone!' Nightlight yelled. The fire from Inferno's blast cleared. There stood a female dragonet, smoke steaming off the glowing scales. Crystallised teardrops rested under her eyes, smaller diamond freckles surrounding them. Heart shaped diamonds were embedded in some of her scales. Her eyes blazed blue. Her scales, a mix of blacks, greys, silvers and purples with a hint of reds and oranges. She was curled in a ball, the scavenger protected inside. She had the powers of an animus, a nightwing and Inferno's firescales. "Glittering…" Nightlight gasped. "You're, your beautiful!"
"Mummy!" Glittering gasped, "Mummy Mummy Mummyyyyyyyy!" She ran toward her mother and hugged her. This time, Nightlight didn't feel the burning, all she felt was warm hugs. "Mummy, now you can hug me forever, and daddy too!" Inferno looked up, and for the first time, he smiled. He walked to Nightlight and Glittering and joined the hug. Sandstone sat and watched the miracle. "Wait, Inferno…" Nightlight whispered. "How is she an animus?"
"I have distant animus blood, but i am not one" Inferno replied.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Nightlight whimpered
"I didn't want it to impact our relationship" he sighed
"I can understand that" Nightlight smiled
"Thank you, that means a lo-" Inferno stopped. He looked down at his chest. A sandwing tail dripping poison. He turned around, Sandstone whispered. "Animus blood, death, destruction…" she withdrew her tail from Inferno's chest and started to fly off. Glittering chanted, bring back Inferno, and killing Sandstone. "Glittering, No!" Nightlight screamed. Sandwing blood covered their once peaceful home. Glittering and Nightlight ran to Inferno. "Finally, that sandwing is gone" a voice croaked. A tall dark figure emerged slowly, evil in their eyes...
