Surprises

It's 6:00 in the morning. Jesse has slipped into the Bellas house and up the stairs. He has made it into his girlfriend's room, and is now looking at her with a slight smile. She is so calm when she sleeps. He pulls out his phone, smiling mischievously now, and types something in. He lowers by her head and puts the end of the phone by her ear. Suddenly, music begins to play loudly.

Good Morning Baltimore!

Every day's like an open door

Every night is a fantasy

Every sound's like a symphony

Good Morning Baltimore!

And someday when I take to the floor

The world's gonna wake up and see

Baltimore and me!

Jesse is serenading her. She groggily rolls over and pointedly hits him with her arm. He just laughs at her and continues to sing.

"Shut UP, Tracy Turnblad." Beca says, words garbled with sleep. He smiles. He had shown her the movie Hairspray and refused to stop singing the songs. They had watched it last week.

"Ha! You have accepted and experienced the joy of movies and are now referencing them! I am making progress!" He says. She groans and sits up on her bed. He pulls out from his backpack a little box. He hands it to her.

"For you." Presenting the box to her. She reads the top.

"Jesse!"

"Salted Carmel."

"My favorite!"

"I know."

"Thank you." She says softer now.

"For what?"

"Being you. Most memorable birthday by far."

"You are very welcome. But it isn't over." He grabs her arm and leads her downstairs. He grabs her hand and leads her out of the car. They drive to Starbucks. He buys her some coffee, ("I'm sorry for waking you up this early." "Whatever.") and they head back out. As Beca eats her muffin, she is oblivious to where he is taking her. They pull up to a place where you can play laser tag.

"Check it out."

"Dude. Seriously." They walk in and buy tickets to play. There isn't anyone there… until Fat Amy walks through the door.

"Watch your dingoes ladies, Fat Amy are in the house." She shouts as she walks into the building. She is followed by all of the Bellas and Treblemakers.

"What? You invited them?"

"We couldn't play by ourselves now!" They all play, guys vs. girls, and the girls somehow end up winning. It probably has something to do with Fat Amy's grudge. Beca ended hiding in a corner by the end of the game. It took 10 minutes to find her. Laughing and talking, Beca and Jesse part ways with the other a cappella singers and go back to the Bellas house after stopping at the mall. Jesse was actually willing to shop with her, which was a rarity. They watch a movie (no surprise there) and enjoy the day. Beca gets some presents from fellow Bellas, Benji, and of course Jesse. When Jesse kisses her goodnight she whispers to him.

"This has been the best birthday ever."
