Blair's Pranks
By Jan Monroe
Blair smiled, he had brewed the tea while Simon was in a meeting. He couldn't wait to see the look on his face when he tasted it. But he was smarter than that. He was about to head out with Jim to check out a crime scene.
Simon came in and bellowed his name before he was even in the bullpen.
"In my office, Now!" Simon yelled.
Simon was simmering. Mothers! Why did she have to call his cell phone?
Naomi could be a wonderful person but she would not shut up even when he had hung up on her. She keep calling back. He had no idea what she thought he was doing to her poor baby.
He couldn't figure out why she would suddenly start calling Blair a baby but he could live with it. She had interrupted his budget meeting with the police chief, five other Captains and two division heads.
He was going to share the irritation with her son. Blair should be able to control her better.
What was he saying? No one controls Naomi!
He was calming down as he entered the office. Blair had a little boy caught with his hand in the cookie jar look on his face.
Blair didn't know what had started this. Simon hadn't even tasted the new blend in the coffee pot. He was ready to say just about anything not to be there when he tasted his new herbal, caffeine free, coffee substitute.
"What can I do for you?" Blair asked.
"You can tell your mother that you are an adult and she shouldn't call me." Simon was back to bellowing.
Blair smiled, "Yes, Simon, I'll call her and calm her down."
"Can I go now?" Blair added quickly.
"Call her now. I want to hear you tell her." Simon stated as he sat down in his chair.
Blair appeared nervous and Simon didn't know why. The kid keep backing up toward the door as he dialed.
Simon listened as Blair talked to Naomi. He covered all the major points, Adult, don't call, don't worry, I'm fine, I have a new girl friend.
Simon turned and filled his coffee cup, added just a touch sugar and took sip of the hot liquid. He swirled it around in his mouth, trying to figure out what it was. It wasn't his coffee. It wasn't horrible but it wasn't coffee!
Blair had backed up almost to the door. He know who had do it.
"SANDBURG!!!!!!" He bellowed at the top of this lungs, "what did you do to my coffee?"
"Its good for you, caffeine free...." he know he shouldn't have used that tactic.
He keep backing up, hoping that Jim would come to his rescue. He didn't.
He got to his desk and grabbed his coat before Simon had finished yell about how he could fix Jim's diet but if he ever fooled with his again, he was dead meat! And he would be on the night shift for years to come.
Blair was grateful that he got out of the building before Simon found out that the sub he had ordered for lunch was changed for a ham and cheese to a veggie with extra sprouts.
The End.
