A/N: This is my first attempt at a Lynley/Havers fic so I'd love to know what you think!
Set anywhere, no spoilers - sorry if it sucks!
Tom

DS Barbara Havers walked past DI Thomas Lynley wearing a knee length black dress and black high heels. Lynley's head instantly turned and followed her movement.
"Going somewhere, Havers?" He asked, fake nonchalance covering immense curiosity. Barbara spun on her heel to face her partner.
"Nothing that special, just dinner." She smiled, a hint of an embarrassed blush on her cheeks. Lynley merely raised his eyebrow, unable to think of quite the right words to say. In all the years he had worked with her he'd never seen her in a dress.
"Just dinner?" His tone was almost teasing her, but actually he was a little jealous - well more than a little jealous if he was honest.
"First date." She said, a slightly uncertain smile on her lips.
"Ah. Well have a good night, then." He smiled back at her, trying not to examine her too blatantly. He couldn't help staring, though, she was completely captivating.
"You too, sir." She replied before turning to leave.
"You know, Havers," He began, waiting for her to stop and turn before continuing. "It wouldn't kill you to call me by my first name."
For once she actually seemed to consider the offer. She turned his favourite smile on him before saying
"Have a good night, Tom." His brow furrowed slightly, silently asking for further explanation.
"Tommy's a bit pre-pubescent, don't you think? To me you're Tom."
"Fair enough. Enjoy your date."
"I'll try..." She replied, winking at him playfully before leaving the station, and a rather enchanted Thomas Lynley behind her.
