Insomnia
Steve stumbles through the door of his house and collapses on his couch. It was a long, hard day at work. All he wanted to do was sleep. He knows he couldn't be able to, but he tries anyways.
He closes his eyes. At first, everything is just dark. And then, he sees her.
He sees her face, so beautiful, so happy.
Her eyes, a warm brown just like milk chocolate.
He sees her smile, so bright it can always light up his day, no matter what.
He hears her laugh, playful and teasing.
He feels her embrace, familiar and safe.
He feels her kiss, warm and real.
He sees the words dance across her lips.
He hears the words "I love you too" in that silky voice of hers.
He opens his eyes.
He can't sleep.
He misses her.
