He didn't really know what possessed him to do it, maybe he needed closure. So that's why he cornered his aunt whilst his other relatives were tying up loose ends.
"Did you ever love me?" His aunt looked up in surprise. She narrowed her eyes.
"What on earth are you on about?" Harry gulped.
"I just wanted to know, if you didn't love me why did you keep me?" Petunia frowned for a minute before directing Harry to the table.
"I couldn't let you go to an orphanage Harry, I may have been... cruel but you were still family." She stopped as if to compose herself.
"I spose in my own twisted way I did love you and the only reason I treated you harshly was because I was bitter. Your mother had the one thing I never had. Love" Harry went to protest but petunia held her hands up..
"I love your uncle dearly Harry but it isn't the life I wanted. Your mother married into money and what did I get, a thug son and a husband that's slowly eating himself to death. I hated you because you reminded me of all my failures." Harry frowned, he was once again being punished for his parents pasts.
"Money doesn't buy happiness you know, I'm a money bag and so far I've nearly been killed seven times and prophesied to kill my parents murderer." He said before getting up.
"For what its worth aunt petunia I forgive you, I hope you forgive yourself." He then proceeded to walk out the room out the room only to be stopped by petunia.
"Harry, I won't see you again will i?" He arched an eyebrow.
"After I leave to fight probably not" petunia frowned.
"I just wanted to know that I... I do, love you I mean." Harry smiled and left.
After the war petunia couldn't shake the emptiness that had awoken in her. For once in her life she needed her nephew, she needed to know he was ok. So when Harry James potter turned up at her front door she smiled, she had her closure and now she needed to be the aunt her little sister always hoped she could be.
