A/N: Short little drabble I decided to write 'cause I'm bored with nothin' to do. Got so many systems and games, and yet I feel so poor. I know it's not much, but enjoy~!

AND REVIEW. 'Cause Lucas has such a hard life . . . Well, he would, if Ness wasn't there to, ahm, comfort him.

Loved

Written by Sonic1615

Lucas thought he'd never be loved again.

His mother, Hinawa, used to make the most magnificent omelets. She would tuck him in and kiss him on the forehead every night before bed, doing the same to his brother. Every day she would say that she loved him, with pure sincerity in her dazzling eyes. Never had she forgot to do that.

But one night, there was no tucking or kissing. Not even an "I love you." And it broke Lucas's heart to know that it would never happen again. His mother was gone, killed, and he was down one person that he loved the most.

When Lucas realized his twin brother Claus would never be the same again, he cried. He had too. Claus was someone he could not bear to loose, especially so soon after loosing his mother. A brother would be hard enough, but a twin . . . he couldn't do it.

Lucas lost the two people closest to him and he felt like he'd never be able to go on. Sure, his dad was still alive and well, but he could never be the same.

Lucas knew that not a single soul in the universe would ever love him as much as his mother and Claus had.

So, thinking over what had happened, Lucas sat there on his bed in Smash Mansion, just gazing at the white ceiling above him.

He had arrived at this place only recently, and there wasn't much to complain about. The food was delicious, many people were nice to him, and, to top it all off, he had a wonderful roommate who he had befriended his first day here. Really, it was good here.

But he still felt empty inside. His heart was aching for the familiar feeling of love. That was all he needed. Just to know that someone loved him would be enough, and he could go on again living happily.

Sprawled out on top of his red bedspread, Lucas heard soft footsteps come to a halt at the end of his bed.

Without looking up, Lucas knew it was Ness. The older boy had a brawl he must attend, so that'd leave Lucas alone for some time.

Lucas lifted his head up, meeting Ness's eyes. "Leaving?"

"Yeah," Ness replied, moving over to their door. "I'll be back as soon as I can."

As the dark-haired teen opened the door, his violet eyes traveled back over to Lucas's blue ones.

It was only held for a second, but Lucas saw it.

The door shut and he fell back, stunned.

There was no mistaking it. He knew the emotion far too well to confuse it for anything other than it. What Ness's violet eyes portrayed was . . . love. Similar to the way his mother and Claus used to look at him, but deeper.

Yes, that was love. And as Lucas's eyelids fluttered down and a small smile passed over his features, only one thought crossed his mind.

Maybe I've been wrong . . .
