Disclaimer: I do not own the prince of tennis...

AN: Karupin's english name is Kalpin. I've gotten comments on that before. Sorry I just call him that cos I read and watched English version first.

Your Cat, Your Smile

He was only there for the cat.

Kalpin was really cute and fuzzy and soft and friendly and fun. Kaidoh didn't need any other reason to come by and play with him.

At first he was a little bit embarrassed to even admit he liked the little guy. He would come up to the Echizen's front door, shamed faced and scowling. Ryoma's dad would let him in, recognizing him as his seishounen's tennis mate. Next thing you know, Kaidoh would be bent down, playing with Kalpin in the living room. Ryoma would walk by, look at Kaidoh, who'd proceed to blush, then say "mada mada dane" and continue on his way.

Somehow though it developed into more than that. As he began to stay longer he would be forced to call his parents.

"Sorry, Mom," he hissed into the phone. "I'll be eating at my classmate's."

His parents liked that he was making new friends.

Dinner evolved into television time. Ryoma seemed to hate having to watch television with his family, but Kaidoh found it interesting. At his house Father always made them watch the news. Ryoma's father liked to watch dramas. Of course there was the plus of Klapin curling in his lap during television time too.

He could feel Ryoma's eyes on him, but he couldn't bring himself to care. His cheeks would redden against his will, however, telling the younger tennis player otherwise.

It wasn't until much later, when Kaidoh had been visiting every day for weeks, that Ryoma really spoke. They were both reserved by nature, Kaidoh needing to be provoked, and Ryoma needing to actually care.

When Kaidoh left the house that day, he realized he couldn't remember a word of what was said. Instead his mind was plagued with images. Ryoma's questioning eyes. The way their hands both touched, teased, and played against Kalpin's fluffy white fur. He remembered the sound of the younger boy's laugh, long and delightful and ringing through the room. He'd never heard it coming from that mouth before and it was almost eerie as if it didn't quite belong.

It was a week later before he would realized that he was addicted to that smile just as much as the warm feeling of a cat curled up against his chest.

THE END.

AN: I dunno man. I HAVE NO IDEA what was going on here. XD but I think it's sweet nonetheless… please review! I appreciate it.
