I am not a fan of this SLASH pairing (as you will realize) so this is MW's fault because he forgot to take off his wedding ring for the Season 8 character cast photo. I wasn't going to write it but it wouldn't leave me alone. Critique is fine but please, no flaming. Thanks to Tigyr for looking it over.
Discovery
Gibbs watched as Tony came back into the bullpen. He watched as the other swarmed around him like vultures. The fact that Tony had forgotten to take of the gold ring on his finger had not gone unnoticed by anyone. Still no one had said anything. Not until now after the picture had been taken. The picture that Leon had insisted they take. But now after it was done everyone was swarming around Tony who still did not understand why he was the center of attention.
Abby.
Ducky.
Ziva.
McGee.
Palmer.
Leon.
They were all staring but saying nothing. Gibbs sighed and got up. He was not mad at his senior agent, nope not at all. How could he be? He walked over to the group and as they sensed him coming nearer they parted for him. "Tony."
He turned his head towards his boss. Finally, maybe Gibbs could explain what was going on. "Yeah Boss."
"Got something to tell us?" He waited but still Tony did not seem to get it.
Tony looked around at the gathered group. "Eh, like what?"
Before Gibbs had a chance to continue it seemed that Abby could not help herself. "Who's the lucky lady?"
Now Tony was even more confused. "What?"
"Yeah Tony, who is the one that finally tamed you?" Ziva spoke next.
Gibbs knew Tony would never get it unless someone pointed it out to him. "There is a ring on your finger, Dinozzo." He rather enjoyed watching as Tony's eyes seemed to grow in size.
CRAP!
Tony looked at his hand and there it was. How could he have forgotten? Stupid. Studid. Stupid. "Ehm, well…" He was so busted but did not know what to say.
"So, who is the lucky person?" Gibbs asked letting Tony know it was ok to tell.
Tony's head jerked up and tried to search Gibbs' face. "Really?"
Gibbs nodded in reply.
"Well instead of telling you I could show you." He watched Gibbs' face to see if the older man had understood his request.
He really did not like displays but what the heck. He nodded once again.
Abby wasn't sure what was going on. Did Gibbs know about this? Of course he did. Gibbs knew everything. "You knew Gibbs and did not tell us?"
Gibbs ignored Abby as Tony took a step closer to him. Right then, Tony's lips met Gibbs' own.
Abby was shocked.
Ducky was not.
Ziva was a bit surprised and yet she was not.
McGee was taken aback.
Palmer was really shocked.
Leon honestly did not care.
One of Gibbs' hand's came to rest on Tony's cheek and on that hand was a golden ring.
THREE DAYS LATER
Gibbs kept looking at the picture. Maybe it had not been such a bad idea after all. He heard Tony step up behind him. "You're covering your hand. Had the ring on?" He knew that Gibbs had not been wearing it because there was no way anyone would have missed that.
"Actually, no. Not sure why I sat like that."
"Maybe you were nervous. You tend to touch your hand when you are." Tony laughed when he walked away after seeing Gibbs glare at him.
Gibbs returned his attention to the photo. He sighed as he brought up a hand to trace a face on the photo. As he heard Tony whistling in the kitchen he could not help but to wonder exactly when he had made such a huge mistake.
