Chasing Dreams

Prologue...

In your world, there is magic. Some people know it's true. Some people think it's false. Other people don't have it. We know the first type as children, young and eager to know anything and everything, even if it's untrue, the second type as adults, people who believe that such magic is a lie since there is no sign of it, and the third type as hobos, people who have given up all hopes and dreams, on which magic thrives.

Now, just because you can't see it, doesn't mean it's not there.

I like to use the sun to explain this. If you imagine, a measly three thousand years ago, people thought that the sun revolved around us, and we were just sitting there and enjoying its warmth. They also thought that magic did the same, and we were just enjoying it. This was, of course, a lie, both of those ideas.

Then people decided that this couldn't be and since the people and animals and plants of Earth moved, Earth ought to move, too. So they devised a new theory, one that nearly all of us don't know about, that Earth rotates next to the Sun, which doesn't move at all. They thought the same thing was true about magic, that we are simply side by side and of equal importance. This too, was a lie.

Finally, people got it right about the Sun. They sent a few men to explore what you call "outer space" and ended up finding out that not only did Earth revolve around the sun, the inverse of the first theory, that Earth also rotated on a slanted axis the entire time! This certainly shocked them. But simply imagine this with magic - this is also not the right theory! By this time, most people had given up on finding magic. That is what they believe. I find this silly. Looking for magic is certainly smarter than looking for a giant man (who supposedly created Earth! Imagine that!) that doesn't exist!

I'd tell you the correct theory about magic, but it would be a wiser idea to allow you to figure it out on your own. Just by reading this, you should have figured out the basic idea, but the rest of this log should fill in the gaps.

I'll give you one hint. These talents that people have, that's one of your "magics". It makes sense now that the hobos have no magic, because their coldness and crutches have helped to steer this magic away. The adults, however, are not as ruined as their hobos. They still have magic, a tiny sum of it for the greedy, and about as much as an average child for the people who are kind and have a pure heart. There is still hope.

So read on, and find out the truth behind magic. Spread the word. Save your planet.
