Yes Kira Izuru would protect his Captain against any one that turned their sword on him.
No he wouldn't think twice about this, not even for a friend.
Everyone said Lieutenant Kira of the 3rd Division was always seen following only steps behind his Captain, that he was always in that older man's shadow.
Constantly surrounded by the darkness Ichimaru Gin created for him.
Even after the betrayal everyone still says Kira was Ichimaru's shadow, now completely lost without his master.
But Kira disagrees.
There was one very big difference between himself and his Captain's shadow.
Ichimaru's shadow was attached to him by some invisible force of nature, like Kira.
Ichimaru's shadow only ever acted on Ichimaru's order, like Kira.
