it isn't really an interlude--as a part of the series i mean. but it felt interlud-y, and its directly connected to Sunrise Sherbet. mostly, just a drabble between chaos and vincent, set about a year after the main story.
Vincent looked down at his one and a half year old daughter with a faint smile on his face. The girl was nestled in the crook of his right arm, while his left was wrapped around her mother. Both Anessa and Yuffie were peacefully asleep. He placed a gentle kiss on each of their foreheads.

The gunslinger's faint smile became something much more real as he saw Chaos sitting in the recliner, staring at his own tiny daughter in fascination. Only a month old and little Ilrya already had the demon where every girl wants the most important man in her life: wrapped around her little finger.

Vincent knew how that felt. Absolutely wonderful.

"What?" Chaos asked, looking up at him.

Vincent shook his head. "Nothing. I like to watch you two together, that's all."

"That could be considered creepy, Vincent."

"No more than you watching Anessa and I through the picture window."

"Touché." The demon gave him a fangy grin. "They make everything worth it, don't they?"

Vincent didn't have to ask what he meant. Their respective pasts, distantly and recently, had been walks through hells unimaginable.

"Yes, they do. Before Nessa was born, I would have told you that you were crazy to say that, but its true. It was well worth it, for these moments with our wife and daughters."

The human and the demon fell into a comfortable silence after that statement, content to simply sit with their daughters and listen to the rain falling on the roof.

After all, they had already proved that even the worst rains brought forth new lives.
