"You're an absolute prat!" and with that Lily turned away from him, slamming her pillow on the right end of the bed. It wasn't even her side of the bed, but she wasn't going to talk to him anymore, let alone ask him to adjust. He had to accept that she was right. All the items that she had used as projectile weaponry on him, including his backpack, Quidditch gloves and shoes, lay around the floor. Truth be told, she had nearly forgotten why she had been so furious, but her face was still red and hot after being so worked up, and she was mentally preparing a speech for the next sentence he would dare to speak.

Seconds turned into minutes, and half an hour later she was still wide awake. She wanted to pull her hair out. On any given day, she would doze off as soon as her head would hit the pillow, but tonight despite her drowsy eyes, her brain just wouldn't shut up.

And then, as if out of nowhere, the cause of her insomnia became clear to her. Him. Always him. She bet he was currently dreaming about riling her up in some way. He loved seeing her lose her temper.

She huffed in irritation, because her need to sleep was winning the battle against her need to win.

He hadn't moved an inch in a while now, not as much as even tossed once to get comfortable. He was probably asleep and wouldn't even notice. In the morning she could go back to pretending she'd been mad at him all night. The fact that he wasn't facing her would just make the task in hand easier.

She turned towards him, scooted over the distance between them and threw her arm around his broad shoulders. Immediately she felt him shake beneath her touch, and she didn't need to look at him to know that he had that infuriating smirk on his face.

"Don't get too cocky. It's just that I can't sleep without cuddling anymore."

"Why not cuddle the pillow?" He asked lightly, enjoying her predicament.

"I tried." She sounded genuinely annoyed. "It doesn't work."

This time, she was sure he was laughing. "Jam.." She began, but was cut off by him turning around and soundly kissing her on the mouth." She raised a questioning eyebrow at him.

"It's just that I can't sleep without kissing you goodnight anymore", he grinned.

She narrowed her eyes, and snuggled into his chest, "I'm still mad at you, and I'm going to yell at you in the morning."

"I'm looking forward to it." And with that James threw both his arms around her, lulling them both to sleep.
