Based on the song "Flaws" by Bastille, Clara and The Doctor have a conversation about their problems.
"I'm a convulsive liar" Clara announced.
"What?" The Doctor glanced down the stairs to where she was sat; he hadn't really been paying attention to what she was doing.
"Me, I'm a convulsive liar"
"Yes you are problem with that?"
"Yeah, big one" Clara frowned and sighed "I'm controlling, of you and everyone in my life"
"Again, problem with that?"
"Yes Doctor" Clara exasperated "You've got flaws, everyone does. Do they not bother you?"
"Yes Clara" The Doctor made his way down the stairs and sat down next to her on the console sofa "But I can't fix them, so I can't let them seriously bother me"
"But I can fix mine, I can not lie. I can not be controlling"
"Your flaws are out there, they're easier to see than mine. People just think I'm weird because I'm an alien but humans are always criticised. You can be a horrible civilisation sometimes, your entire life you have people telling you that you could do more with your life or what you can and can't do"
"You need rules Doctor, otherwise people could run riot. It's like you and the fact you know that certain things in time can't be changed. If you tried to change one of them, there could be bad consequences"
"I did once, it didn't end well"
"Exactly, like if I broke the law I'd be arrested and in jail and that wouldn't be good would it? I don't need to or want to change the state of society; I need to change me and my problems"
"But why?"
"I hurt people the way I am now. Do you ever think you should fix your flaws?"
"Why do you think I'm trying to improve my social skills? But Clara your flaws make up who you are, flawed but you"
"I wouldn't be perfect without these two flaws"
"Wouldn't you?"
"No of course not, do you think I am?"
"Anyway if we're going to do this properly, we have to take an analysing route. Why do you lie Clara?"
"I don't want to hurt people, when I lied to Danny that I was still travelling with you, I didn't want to hurt him by telling him I was with you because he wasn't overly happy with that"
"But he was only looking out for you Clara; he thought I would hurt you, which I do"
"Not always, when I lied to you about Danny coming back I wanted you to go to Gallifrey. I know how much you care for me Doctor, I know you would have stayed for me if you thought I was sad and sometimes I lie to save myself like with the Cybermen, to make myself look better"
"Why?"
"I've got ego problems, we both know that"
"So have I, apparently"
"You don't think you do?"
The Doctor shrugged "I don't know, not always in the way other people do. Why are you controlling?"
"I don't want you to go, I sometimes feel like I have to scare you and threaten you so you'll stay"
"That's stupid, that's really stupid Clara. You mean a lot to me, I was a bit broken when I met you, after Amy and Rory and you fixed that. I think that I'm mean to you because I don't want you to see properly how much you mean to me"
"Why not?" Clara asked tentatively.
"Anyone knows that when you reveal how much you mean to someone it's dangerous, you could hurt me and then I don't know where I'd be"
"Oh" Clara lay her head on The Doctor's shoulder "I need you"
"I need you too" He waited until Clara had seemingly fallen asleep against him before he whispered "More than you'll ever know"
