Kyp and Jaina lay as they had many times in the year since they had been
married, enveloped in each other's arms and connected through the powerful
bond that they shared in the force. As they lay there, their thoughts and
feelings entwined in the force, their presences bonded in such a way that
it seemed that they were no longer two, but one.
Kyp reached down and rubbed his wife's bare back and felt the pleasure of her response. She sighed lightly and moved closer to him. As if it were possible to get any closer than they already were. As she moved ever closer, Kyp felt a glimmer in the force. It was not a warning or a premonition, but, rather, the glimmer of an unfamiliar presence. He reached out with the force and felt the glimmer once again. It was a faint, yet strong presence and curiously it was in the room with he and his wife. This realization awoke him from his slumber. Reaching out again, he tried to ascertain where the presence was, and when he had determined its location, he fixed his gaze on his wife.
Jaina awoke suddenly at having the bond between her and Kyp broken. She looked up to find him staring at her, smiling. She looked at him and smiled, assuming that his smile was a result of his appreciation for the night before. But, as she studied him further, she realized that there was something more. She gave him a quizzical look.
"Jaina, you're pregnant." He said, the joy evident on his face and in the force.
Stunned at his revelation, Jaina lifted herself on her elbows and looked at him steadily. Was he serious? She reached out with the force and sure enough she felt the faint, strong glimmer of life radiating from her womb. With her mouth wide open she sat up in the bed and placed her hand on her stomach. The glimmer was ever stronger now, more real. With a smile to match his, she looked at him with tears in her eyes. He embraced his wife, kissing her on her forehead. The two stayed fixed in their positions for what could have been an eternity, feeling the presence of their unborn child.
