Kol picked up a fallen tree branch and hurled it as far as his strength would let him. This is how it ends? He thought bitterly. He knew by now the witch would be putting the vale back up.
"Back to hell," Kol said to himself, back to isolation with no one. For the past weeks he'd been travelling the other side yelling at his siblings and spying on various people, but mostly trying to avoid his other dead family. Finn, Mikael and Esther would not be his family, he would not go back to them.
"It's just so unfair!" He yelled into the nothingness.
Why should I be punished? What have I done that wasn't worse than Klaus or Rebekah? Why do I always get the short end of the stick? WHY AM I ALWAYS THE ONE ALONE!?
Then he heard a rustling behind him.
"If you're a hunter you should be able to tell I'm not in the mood," He turned.
"Hello Kol."
Elijah?
"What are you doing here, brother?" Kol spat chucking another piece of tree branch into the dark.
"You know just hanging in."
"I'm fairly certain that you're no using it correctly." Kol smiled for the first time in a long time.
"Well I'm a little behind on the times you see-"
"Elijah you're always behind on the times."
Lightning started to flash, the wind picked up. Kol was filled a sense of dread that carried through his bones.
"Well I guess that's my queue." Kol said mockingly.
"Well we have had good times and I can't exactly say my life was too short, but when your numbers up your numbers up. I'm going to miss this, you know, being the most gorgeous vampire on earth. I would have liked to spend the night with one last supermodel maybe if I'm-"
Elijah wrapped Kol in a hug that would've crushed any normal human. Kol began to feel tears stinging in his eyes, because the truth was he would miss this. He would miss what he had never gotten. Even if his family were a band of lunatics they were his family.
"I'm sorry Kol, I'm so sorry" Elijah whispered in his ear his voice cracking just in the slightest.
"I'm sorry to brother, remember it's-" not your fault. Kol never got to utter those last three words. He was gone, Forever. Elijah wiped his hand over his eyes, and tried to regain his composure.
Elijah walked slowly away from the place he had last scene his brother. It seemed impossible, not to ever see his smile again or hear his laugh. Elijah would've thought losing someone for a second time would be easier, but it was just so much harder.
Elijah walked out of the forest. He would never comeback.
