It was a hot summer day in Buckman, and seventeen year old Edith Ann Malloy, or Eddie to everyone, was sprawled out in her yard. She wore a t-shirt from one of the times her baseball team got to the championship, green and blue dip dye short shorts, and knockoff Ray Bans.
"Hey Eddie," Jake Hadford said to Eddie Malloy as he saw her laying in the grass right by the bridge that divided their two houses.
"Hi there Jake," Eddie said to him not even moving.
"Mind if I join you?" the tall blond boy said.
"I actually do." Eddie said still not moving, but let out a smile as he lay down next to her.
Eddie and Jake had an interesting relationship. They were what you call "frienemies". Eddie liked Jake and Jake liked Eddie, but they never really did anything about it, they knew it would ruin the battles that their families had with each other for so many years, so they just excepted nothing would ever happen, even though they knew that the other one liked them.
"Jake what are you doing?" Eddie started giggling uncontrollably when he started randomly poked her on her arm.
"Just trying to get your attention." He replied with a smug grin on his face.
"Well you have it, now what?" Eddie asked him still grinning.
"This." Jake said as rolled over and pressed his chapped lips on her soft peach pink ones.
After six minutes Eddie broke the kiss and said as she smiled like a idiot, "It's not fun kissing someone with chapped lips."
"Too bad..." He closed the gap between them again.
After they broke apart again he just grabbed her hand and they lay in the grass for the rest of the day together.
