"I'm not gay."

"Mmhm."

"Just because I like kissing you, I'm not actually-"

"Okay," Remus murmured against the other boy's skin, still holding Sirius down on the bed with soft hands on his waist, placing kisses along his jaw.

"I mean, up until recently I've definitely liked girls. And now I like you."

"That's good," Remus replied, somewhat distractedly.

"And it doesn't count if it's you, anyway, cause you're sort of a girl-"

"Mm," replied Remus, kisses now moving back towards Sirius' earlobe.

And then, pulling away and holding himself over Sirius still sprawled out beneath him, "wait, what?"

Sirius blinked. "You. You're sort of girly, so it doesn't count if I kiss you," he tried to reason, and squirmed a little in an attempt to get Remus to resume the kissing.

"No, hold on." Remus sat up fully, scrambling off Sirius to kneel on the bed. "Sort of girly? How am I girly?"

"Well… I mean, you're smart. And you have nice hair."

"I have nice hair," Remus replied disbelievingly, raising an eyebrow.

"Yes! It's nice. I mean, it's all silky and… and nice." Sirius, obviously struggling now, sat up too and tried to sweep his hair off to the side in its usual obnoxious fashion, and only succeeded in making the front stick up to match the back. If Remus wasn't busy being annoyed, he'd probably laugh.

"Go on," Remus smirked.

"And… and you have uh, lots of books? And you're skinny. And you always eat carefully and don't play Quidditch and you're a lot prettier than me or James or Peter." Sirius nodded once on finishing his sentence, as though that definitely summed up his argument and Remus should have no reason to question it hereafter.

Remus did anyway.

"Sirius, have you noticed that both you and James also own a lot of books? It comes with going to school, you see. And I don't eat 'carefully', I just don't see every meal as an opportunity to show off the size of my mouth by fitting as much as humanly possible into it."

Sirius shrugged and grinned in what he liked to think was an adorable, apologetic way, and Remus continued. "Okay, I don't play Quidditch, but I know plenty of girls that do. How many girls on the Gryffindor Quidditch team, Sirius?"

"Um. Four?" Sirius was starting to look uncertain about whether his argument was really all that foolproof after all, and shrugged again.

"Correct. Sirius, I think your argument is invalid."

"You forgot the last point I made though. You can't really argue with that one."

Remus tried to keep the smile off his face. "Oh Sirius. You're plenty pretty."

Sirius grinned like a maniac and reached for Remus' sleeve, tugging at it until Remus lay down beside him. Sirius turned on his side and ran a hand through Remus' 'nice' hair.

"Fine. Maybe I am a little gay sometimes."

Remus smirked. "A little? Sometimes? Does that mean I need to check with you before I kiss you, just in case you're not feeling particularly gay right at that moment?"

"Oh ha ha, shut up Remus." And he leant forwards and kissed him.

And Remus did shut up.
