A Mother's Love

A/N: Well, since everyone seemed to really like my poetry, here's another one for you. Lily talking to Harry in her final hour. I own no characters, settings, nothing.. nothing except for the pretty way the words were arranged in the poem.

With a large blast of green,

James yelled at me to go,

I know we'll end up dying,

And will never see you grow,

I just hope you remember,

That Christmas party that we had,

Or that summer at the beach,

With me, Sirius and your dad,

And I hope you'll remember,

If you couldn't sleep at night,

I'd sing you your favorite lullaby,

And hug and hold you tight,

And I hope you'll remember,

These things I have to say,

But I guess what's the use,

You probably won't remember anyway,

He's standing right in front of me,

I feel a chill run up my spine,

He says that he'll spare me,

But he will take no child of mine,

I hold you tightly in my grasp,

My one and only son,

I look around and I see, There's no place for us to run,

I will die in your place,

You deserve living more,

And one day, you'll defeat him,

As I'm told by Dumbledore,

You begin to cry softly,

And I'm doing the same,

What a way for me to die,

By he-who-we-shouldn't-name,

But please don't worry,baby,

I won't let him get you too,

There's nothing that can defeat,

My protection over you,

"Avada Kedavra" tear through his lips,

And I give a final shove,

But at least I die knowing you're safe,

Protected by a mother's love.
