Amy woke up to the sound of birds singing, and a streak of sunlight across her face from the small gap in her curtains. A quiet yawn escaped her lips, while her gloved hands slowly make their way up to her eyes. Reluctantly, she slid out of bed and grabbed her red silk house coat hanging from above her door. She stumbled out into the hallway and made her way over to her bathroom. Slowly turning on the knob of her shower, her thoughts drifted onto her blue hero and the events that had happened almost a year ago.
"Be strong, Ames. And don't forget about me, ok?" Sonic chuckled, his emerald green eyes looking into her jade orbs. Amy gave an unsure nod, before bringing him into a tearful last embrace. The tears were flooding down her face, and in exchange, a single tear from the one she loved the most.
Even now, thinking about her dashing blue hero caused a tear to slide from the corner of her eye. She quickly wiped her cheek dry, scolding herself. She had to remain strong. For herself and everyone else. Sonic had asked her to. But that was the thing; she'd bottled up all her emotions away for ten months. She couldn't take it any more. The emotional build-up was taking it's toll. All the months of not crying, of making sure everyone else was emotionally alright. She couldn't keep it up for much longer. The sorrow, the loss, the dispair, the stress, the heartbreak.
Because of it all, the twinkle in her eye had long gone, her cheerful attitude was no more, her soft centre had turned hard, even her bangs were beginning to lose their shine.
She had to get away from it all before she snapped. Quickly, she turned off the shower and ran back into her bedroom, shuffling through her clothes before dragging out her red dress. She shoved on her boots and ran outside. And she kept running, the tears threatening to spill. She ran until she came to a small clearing in a forest, the blue lake sparkled as the sun shone on it, the small breeze causing tiny ripples on the surface. She staggered to a nearby tree and collapsed in a sea of tears and emotion. It felt like she was drowning, but she didn't care.
"Sonic's... not coming back." She whispered bitterly, balling her hand into a fist and punching the soft soil.
"He promised me... he... wouldn't leave me..." She let out a small sigh and let the tears fall.
"Guess you can't always keep your promises.."
"But I do." A voice said from behind her. It wasn't Tails or Knuckles'.. nor Shadows. ...Could it be..?
Slowly, Amy stood up and turned around. ...Nobody was there. She let out a sigh, before a gust of wind went past, and Amy felt a pair of hands wrap themselves around her waist gentley.
"I never break a promise, Ame." Sonic whispered into her ear. He felt a few tear drops land on his gloves, before Amy turned around to face him.
"I've missed you, Sonic!" Amy cried, burrying her head into his shoulder. Carefully, Sonic lifted her head and looked her in the eyes.
"How about a 'sorry' gift to make up for it?" He whispered, placing his forhead on hers gently. Amy just looked at him, her eye's glistening with a hint of curiosity in them.
Without any hesitation, Sonic put his lips on hers, placing one of his hands on the back of her head, while bringing his other hand to support her back. Amy's eye's grew wide. Before long, she closed her eyes and gentley wrapped her arms around his neck, deepening the kiss. After what seemed forever, the two parted, putting their heads together.
"That was the best sorry gift, ever." Amy mumbled, seeing a smile form on her blue hero's muzzle.
