Title: Final Days
Fandom: Stargate SG1
Characters: Sam/Jack
Prompt: #5 a succession of ordinary days
Word Count: 400
Rating: PG
Summary: Jack's last week looking after Sam.
Notes: Follow Up to Needed You Most, Here Without You and Crazy Old Cat Woman. Can be read alone. Also I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but it's pre-relationship. They aren't together… yet. This is a very open ended thing. I've left lots to the imagination so interpret however you wish.
----
Final Days 'Here's the paper Adam dropped off. He actually handed it to me today instead of throwing it at my head.' Jack rambled, 'I was surprised and I looked like an idiot when I flinched. I really did think he was going to hit me round the head with it.''He's what? Fourteen?' Sam grinned.
Jack laid the paper in front of her and frowned, 'It was unexpected. He sort of just crept up like a lion. Waiting to pounce. I swear I didn't hear him walk up the drive.'
Sam rolled her eyes, 'Old age. It does that to you.'
---
Sam looked over at Jack with regret.
'You're leaving this weekend,' she said softly.
'Yep. You are all better and I've got to be back in Washington by Tuesday.'
'I'll miss you… I've kinda got used to you being here.'
'Leaving my clothes on the floor and always leaving the toilet seat up? I'm sure you'll be fine without me.'
She nodded and turned to face the window.
'I will be back. As Teal'c would say- undomesticated equines could not keep me away.'
'I don't want you to leave,' she whispered.
She hoped he hadn't heard.
He'd heard every word.
---
'You want ketchup with that?'
She nodded enthusiastically and he squirted some onto her hotdog.
'Onions?'
She nodded again. Jack grinned as he heaped fried onions onto her food.
Jack weaved his way through the kitchen and to the table where he placed both hers and his plates down.
'Thank you,' came the muffled reply as she took a bite.
She groaned as the food slid down her throat, 'these are so good, Sir.'
Jack looked at her and smiled goofily, 'Hotdogs?'
He took a bite out of his and watched her, 'Anyone would think you'd never tasted one before.'
---
This was it. Jack's last day – his last few hours before Washington claimed him back.
And Sam couldn't be sadder.
She'd miss him.
She'd be lonely.
And he knew that.
Jack rubbed small circles on her back, 'Are you sure you're gonna be okay?'
'I'll be fine,' she lied.
Jack pulled her round to face him and gave her the best smile he could.
'I'll miss you,' he said weakly.
'Me too,' Sam replied as she moved forward and wrapped her arms around his neck.
'Come back soon,' Sam choked.
'You can count on it. I'll be back this weekend.'
