Prologue

My little Melody,

Only two more years left until I can see you and your brothers. I send this in hopes that you will have made your decision as to whether or not you will be coming back with my crew. This letter is short because I can think of nothing to say. How is your mother? Has anything of interest occurred? Send back soon.

Your father and Capt. Of the Flying Dutchman

Davy Jones

The young girl read the letter over and over as one of the crew watched her. She raced back to the castle and wrote her reply.

Father,

Two years seems like forever in my mind. Mother is driving me mad calling me Water Lily, the name she believes suits me. Victor and Vincent are still too young to care that we are different but they have begun to question why you are never around. They can't wait until they can see you. I have made my decision, although mother does not approve, and I'm coming with you. This place bores me and I long for a life of adventure and danger, neither of which can be found on this dull island. Mother is plotting something, I don't trust her. Be careful when you come.

Love always,

Melody.

Two years past and Davy Jones arrived at the castle in hopes of seeing Calypso and the children. But he couldn't find Calypso anywhere and the children where gone as well. He searched the castle knowing they never left the island. But he found nothing. The children had been confined to their rooms and he left without seeing them. Melody after hours of pounding into the door with all the weight of her ten year old body, she finally got it open.

She raced out as fast as her legs would carry her in hopes that her father was not too far out to hear her calls. Of course she was so determined to leave that she would swim after the ship if possible. When she got to the shore she saw that the ship was too far for her to swim after without running into interference.

"Daddy, come back. I'm here now daddy, it's not too late." She called out as loud as she could. She continued to call out and watched as the Flying Dutchman sank into the ocean while the sun set. Ten year old Melody let out a painful cry; it would be another ten years before he'd come back for her, if he came at all. She cried and shrieked her disappointment and her anger for hours.

"It's okay Melody, we're still here for you." The twins came up and hugged her, letting her cry with them.

"It's not fair." She sniffled, repeating the words like a mantra.

"We know, come on let's go inside." Victor, the older of the twins, helped her to her feet.

They returned to the castle to find the servant who'd locked them away, agreeing with their mother's plan. Melody came out of nowhere and punched her so hard she fell. "That'll teach you to plot against me and my father." She growled, her eyes emptying out.

"Sis don't kill her, we'll find a way to get you on that ship." Victor grabbed her arm, "Don't worry sis, we'll do anything to make you happy again."

A/N: the twins are five by the way; Calypso had a little rendezvous with Davy Jones.
