A/N So I finally got a chance to watch the new anime episode and all I thought was: What if Wendy didn't push Lucy down in time? This is my first attempt at something that's angsty and it may not even be sad but if you're very sensitive than just grab some tissues and be grateful it's not canon :P. I don't own Fairy Tail.

The tree fell down and made the ground underneath Lucy's feet rumble. It also kicked up a small cloud of dust that sent her into a coughing fit. Seeing as the two enemies were being taken care of, Lucy took a moment to admire the area around her. Everything was covered in smooth cool ice. Despite it being the same element; Lucy preferred the calm blue color of Gray's ice. This ice was a light purple shade that sparkled underneath the afternoon sun. It was hauntingly beautiful. Lucy stared at it once more before focusing again. She could hear the grunts of her male companions and a faint ping.

Wendy's head snapped up after a new smell invaded her senses. It was slightly familiar and made her wrinkle her nose in distaste. The scent was sickening. Somehow it managed to remind her of her days with Grandine. More specifically the day they meet a hunter in the woods… suddenly it hit Wendy harder than any attack could. Quickly, Wendy began to calculate where the bullet would go as she felt it fly through the air.

"Look out!" Wendy screamed but it was a second too late. With her enhanced hearing, the sound of a bullet ripping through Lucy's chest was amplified. Happy and Charla looked on in pure shock as the blonde mage crumpled to the ground. Her eyes were opened wide in shock and the blood flowed out of her abdomen rapidly. Everything was silent until Lucy let out a gurgling noise. Finally Wendy jumped into action and placed her glowing blue hands over the older mage's body. Nearby Happy watched in a stunned silence while Charla pursed her lips in worry. After a few minutes of useless treatment, Lucy's hand grasped Wendy's arm. The dragon slayer chocked back her sobs at the coolness of her skin.

"I-It's okay." Lucy ground out before coughing up sticky maroon blood.

"Save your strength." Wendy admonished her patient as she tried to continue treatment. The light Wendy was emitting began to turn a pale blue instead of the royal cerulean color it was.

"Go fight." Lucy whispered. The younger dragon slayer merely shook her head until Lucy began to sit up.

"Defeat him or I will." Lucy gagged on the last word before collapsing back to the ground. A light appeared near her and Aquarius stood.

"Listen to my master." Aquarius growled menacingly and, without sparing a second glance at the dragon slayer, stood by Lucy. Her hard eyes softened as she stroked Lucy's hair. Wendy hesitated a second longer before leaping into the air. Charla snapped out of her stupor to catch her partner in the air. The wind roared more intensely than before and cloud began to appear rapidly. She would mourn her friend later but now Wendy had a fight to win.

For Lucy.
