A/N: I recently got a new script writing software and I wanted to try it out and write an actual play. This is actually a fanfiction that a friend of mine, Deluxe Sugar Quills(.net/~deluxesugarquills), wrote that I adapted to a play format. I added in a little bit in the middle, but this is essentially her story. Make sure you read the original fic too! (.net/s/4069254/1/Summer_Picnic) I thought the original was very cute and well written. (Also, I have permission from Deluxe Sugar Quills to post this.)

Disclaimer: This fic belongs to Deluxe Sugar Quills and these characters belong to J.K. Rowling.

ACT I

Scene 1

Ron stands in the garden of The Burrow. The

rickety house can be seen in the background. There

is an old broom shed on the side. A picnic basket

stands by the entrance to the shed. Ron is

swinging a yard gnome around over his head.

Enter Hermione.

HERMIONE

Ron?

Ron throws the gnome offstage and turns to face

her smiling.

RON

Hey there, Hermione. Hot today, isn't it?

HERMIONE

George said you were looking for me.

RON

Oh yeah. I wanted to show you something.

Ron takes her hand and leads her to the broom

shed. Ron takes out a broom and picks up the

picnic basket.

RON

Come on.

HERMIONE

Where are you taking me? You know I don't like flying!

RON

Relax, it's only a little bit away. It's just too hot

to walk today, and besides, Mum won't freak out

completely if she sees a broom gone.

HERMIONE

(Takes picnic basket from Ron)

Alright, so where are we going?

RON

It's a surprise. Trust me, you'll love it.

Ron motions for Hermione to join him and she

climbs on behind him. Ron kicks off. The

background shifts.

They are flying. Hermione holds onto Ron with one

hand and the picnic basket with the other. They

land by a stream in a sunny clearing. Both

dismount. Hermione places the picnic basket on the

ground near the stream.

HERMIONE

This is beautiful.

RON

Yeah, I used to come out here to think after Fred died.

Hermione places an arm around Ron.

RON

I've known about this place ever since I was a little

kid.

HERMIONE

I'm glad you brought me here.

RON

Me too.

(Pause)

Want to go wading in the stream?

HERMIONE

Sure.

Both bend down, take off their shoes and socks,

and roll up their pants. They step gingerly into

the water.

Hermione turns to find Ron directly behind her.

She lets out a tiny shriek as Ron wraps his hands

around her waist.

RON

Let's have lunch.

HERMIONE

(Laughs)

Alright.

RON

What?

HERMIONE

Nothing, Ron. That's just, typical. That's all.

Ron playfully punches her in the arm as the two

walk out of the stream. Ron opens the picnic

basket and pulls out a blanket and spreads it out.

He lays out some food on top.

Hermione follows Ron and lies down on the blanket.

RON

Sandwich?

Hermione sits up and nods. Ron holds up the

sandwich and instead of taking it from him,

Hermione leans over and takes a bite. She leans in

to take another bite but Ron kisses her instead.

They fall backward down onto the blanket.

The lights dim on the kissing couple until they

fade out entirely.

Curtain.
