The memory ran over and over again in her head, as she shuddered. Someone put their hand on her shoulder and she quickly forced it away. "Ouch." Ellie walked by her and sat down in front of Alex. "What's going on? You've been acting like this for a while now." Alex looked at Ellie, with an 'I don't want to talk about it' look. Ellie stared back and Alex finally said something. "Things just haven't been going well at home. My mom's boyfriend, uh, he-" the doorbell rang and Alex sighed in relief, but when she saw who was at the door..."Alex, its time to go home." HE was here and she became terribly scared. The drive to her house was silent, but they could both sense tension. He dropped her off and she gave him a dirty look. Alex's mom was sitting near the dining table as she glanced up. "Alex, there's something I have to tell you." Alex sat down carelessly thinking that this talk would probably be about her grades.
She held the bouquet of flowers as terrified as she was that night when he scarred her forever, but this was worse. She watched helplessly as her mom happily walked up the isle. To her mother, it was a day to love, and live life freely, but for Alex, it was the beginning of the most terrible nightmare she would ever face.
