The story of Rosa is not a happy one it is sad and depressing full of ups and downs and something more depressing than her life is that Rosa didn't know what a happy day was as she was a victim of abuse

Rosa was your average teenage girl, brown long hair, crystal blue eyes with thick long lashes. By the way she looked you wouldn't think anything would be wrong but behind her passive mask was a scared girl with a horrible home life.

Her average day, after school she would get changed into her clothes which were old as she didn't have much money for anything let alone clothing. As she walked downstairs her mother walked through the door with the shopping and starts putting it away with Rosa's help. The only thing her family money was used on was food and her father regales.

As the family's dinner was slowly cooking her father stumbled through the door in his drunken state and sat down in his battered old chair and passed out. The money her father had was all used on booze. Yes, Rosa's father was an alcoholic and all her mother's money was used on food.

Rosa goes upstairs to her room after her father passed out, Rosa's room was decorated in baby blue paint which had been there for years and a mattress on the floor with a rail for clothes also she had only two things she loved in her room her only books and a poster from her book the faults in our stars by john green the poster has her favourite quote on it "the marks humans leave are too often scars" the poster was a 16th birthday present from her mother. After she read a chapter of her book she decided to help her mother in the kitchen.

At five o'clock as Rosa and her mother was finishing cooking dinner her father came into the kitchen "where my dinner?" shouted Regulus intoxicated as he slapped Rosa "it is cooking I can't speed it up" Rosa wept helplessly .

After her father's anger had subsided dinner was a calm silent meal .lyra went up to her room to after another hour of reading she thought of what to do about her father but the whiplash of actually acting on these thought was too great . Her mother tried to something about the addiction but it went horribly wrong and not just her mother but Rosa got a beating to she was covered in bruises from head to toe the next day. Then she had an idea!

"Mother mother I have an idea!" Rosa whispered quietly as her father was walking past the door.

"What is it darling?" Her mother replied.

"After school tomorrow I'm thinking of going to the police about father as I don't think I can take much more of this" she replied with a hint of desperation.

"I come with you"her mother replied eyes and voice full of hope

After their conversation mother went downstairs but before she did she said quietly

"Stay upstairs Rosa promises me!"

Rosa did as her mother told her and stayed upstairs in her room reading a poetry book as it calmed her down her favourite poems were fire and ice by Robert frost and running from me by rodshank l brown. The thing that worried Rosa was that she didn't see her mother for the rest of the night.

After Rosa woke up to go to school she went down stairs and froze. Her mother was laying on the floor with blood trickling down her head. Rosa didn't know what to do so she ran for an ambulance but as the paramedics came to the door the person she has to call father walked down the stairs and shouted.

"What have you done you stupid girl "as Rosa opened the door to let the paramedics in to tend to her mother.

"Do you know who did this to your mother?" the paramedics asked

"My father "she replied with a hint of anger in her voice

Just by saying those two words Rosa's lives changed dramatically. Her mother recovered and told the police what happened that night. Her father went on trial and was sentenced to ten years in prison for abuse and Rosa could now see the possibility of happy days but we all know life is no fairy tale.
