Running. That is all I can think about right now. My life could end in minutes. As I edge closer to the end of the path I think about my next move. I know I will have to use quick thinking but I am a fighter. I know what I am doing. My next move, hummmm, let's see, ooooh! I am going to make a break for it. No! That's stupid you've been doing that for 15 minutes! Now… the one thing I know how to do is RIDE! That's it! My friend Heather's farm is just down the corner.

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! Ugggghhh! Why didn't I turn that dumb thing off? Right when I get a good idea, I wake up to that stupid alarm. I wonder if I could change it to Cowgirls Don't Cry! I am a cowgirl, aren't I? Well I will be, if I ever get my parents to get me a horse. Every time! I give up. " Mom! Will you wake me up in the mornings?, I asked.

"No. Maxine! Now get up! It's almost time for school. Don't forget to feed those cats! They almost starved because you forgot to feed them for two weeks!"

" Mom! They're just cats! That is what cats do. They sleep, they poop, and starve. "

"Get up!"

"Fine!" Why is she always annoying me? I mean, really does Heather's mom ever do that? Ummm. Maybe. But that's not the point right now. The point is my mother is really annoying. "Max! Get into your clothes and get on the bus. Stop writing in your journal!"

"Okay! Calm down mom! Jeez! I would actually rather be on that stupid, smelly bus right now because you are so annoying."

"Good because he's waiting for you again!"

"Bye!"

"Goodbye." "Huuhh. She is so grounded when she gets home."

at home…

"Maxine! You are grounded!"

"Actually, I wanted to apologize. Heather talked to me at school today and told me I should try to be nicer to you. I know what you're going through and I wanted to try to be nice."

"Awwww. Thanks! You are the sweetest daughter I have ever met!"

"Thanks mom." Then we hugged. We hugged for at least 10 seconds and I knew that she would consider talking to dad about getting a morgan for me.

"Hey mom, I know you and dad aren't married any more, but could you please try to consider talking to him about getting me a horse?"

"I think we could talk about it." Yes! Did you hear what she just said? She said she would talk to him about it! Yes! "But, I want you to take care of it if you do get one. I heard that Heather had a horse that she didn't need anymore and she said that if we were interested we could come take a look. I think she will lower the price because you are her best friend."

"Well what are we waiting for? Let's go!"

At The Barn…

"He's beautiful! What's his name?" I asked.

"His name is Prince Charming. We call him Prince for short." Said Heather

"Wow. Can I ride him?" I asked.

"Sure, and he will be perfect for a beginner." Heather replied.

"His trot feels so smooth! I love him. Oh mommy, daddy, can we buy him?"I asked.

"Buy him? You can just have him. Who said anything about buying?" Heather asked.

"Oh Heather dear, we need to give you something in return for this beautiful animal." My parents said.

"I promise, it's fine. We just needed to get rid of him. We had him as a baby. Made some money off of his showing prizes and now we're just looking for someone to give him to." Heather replied.

"You're sure of this sweety?" My parents asked.

"Yes. Positive. I already asked my parents."

"Well then let's take him home." I smiled at my parents. Then I loaded Prince up and took him home to turn out.

"Thank you mom and dad. I love you so much."

" We love you too. Just make sure to feed him and ride him as often as you can. Okay?"

"Okay. I promise."

"Goodnight Prince Charming. You've rescued me from those crazy people who were chasing me. I will have good dreams forever now." I whispered as I walked away.

"You're my prince."
