The Letter

When the Legion was about to enter into the basement, Hanji picked a piece of paper she found on the floor, it was a letter to her. Contains spoilers from chapter 84.

Hanji,

You are one of the strongest and bravest people I've ever met. You are a great person too, you've always helped people when they needed you. You deserve to be in that basement and to know its secret. I'm sure you'll be a great commander.

Tell Eren I'm proud of him. He has grown up a lot, and he's even stronger than he was before. Tell him not to blame himself for what happened. He made the right choice.

Tell Mikasa that, even though I've never met her, I know she's a great soldier and also a great person. She is willing to give his life to Eren, and that's not something everyone could do.

And lastly, tell Levi I love him. I love him so much, more than I've ever loved anyone. Tell him he has done well. Also, tell him to stop blaming himself. It wasn't his fault. It never was. Tell him I miss him so much and I'm proud of him. I'll be waiting for him at the end of everything.

Now you have to set humanity free. And I know you will.

Give back those wings to the people that once was free.
