I slowly open my eyes to see the sun shining on the window, I feel my body being covered in a white blanket. I slowly raised my body, to not feel any pain. I get out of the bed, my hand on the door handle and open the door.
I walking towards the hallway as I entered the living room, it was very simple and modern. But what got me was the wooden table and chair next to the window, it was showing...
The sea...
How could that be...
I look at the same window with the ocean view to see...
It's...
I opened the front door to see the children playing near the ocean, alive and well.
But they're dead, how...
"Odasaku!" They all looked at me with smiles on their faces, running towards me and hugging me.
"You're home Oda." They said.
Home? This dream is home?
After everything that happened, I'm now in a dream with my family in a house with an ocean view?
Suddenly someone covered my eyes, and whispered in my ear:
"Welcome home, Oda."
That voice...
I never thought I would hear her again...
She's gone, but I can still feel her presence...
"Yui?"
"That's right."
She removed her hands over my eyes, I turned around to see her right front of me with a smile on her face.
Her dark brown hair giving a shine from the sun, her eyes show the same color as the sky. I walk towards her, and hugged her with all my willpower.
"You're here, but you're not real." I said, feeling the pain in my heart. "This isn't real, this is just a dream."
I'm holding all of my emotions, trying not to break down. I failed protecting you...
It was all for nothing...
"Oda, listen." Yui put a hand on my cheek, looking straight at me. "You didn't fail, you did the best you could. Protecting us and Dazai, and never losing sight of yourself."
I...I think I finally realize what she said to me, all the things I've done...
Believing in the reason of not to take lives and saving others...
The choices I made, it was all for them.
I put my hands on Yui's shoulders and kissed her gently on the lips, and look at her with a calm expression. "I love you."
She smiled. "I love you too."
We hold each other's hands along with the children's as we all look at the sky. It wasn't for nothing, it all meant something in the end. I know I'm here with my family again, for all eternity.
I smiled. "I'm home."
